LA Cruise Stop in September any must sees?

First time cruise to the coast and looking for cant miss ideas when stopping in LA or San Diego.

"Can't miss" is what interests you. LA has a gazillion things to do...anything from amusement parks and TV/movie studios, to great museums. Many possible options.

In San Diego I highly recommend Balboa Park in general and the Zoo in particular.

Things are a bit easier in San Diego; the USS Midway is next door to the cruise port, Coronado across the bay, Balboa Park with the SD Zoo and 15 or 16 museums is just a couple miles away.

 

LA is a lot harder because of the sheer size and the number of ideas possible. It will depend on what interests you and maybe which port (San Pedro or Long Beach) you stop in.

Also, you do NOT want to get caught in LA traffic, trust me. If you take an excursion, best to make it a ship's tour.

The battleship USS Iowa, and the Los Angeles Maritime Museum are near the pier in LA,  just a 10-15 min walk up the waterfront.  anything farther, I'd definitely opt for a ship excursion.  You don't want to tackle LA traffic on your own.

If it's an overnight stop I'd recommend Disneyland, but you'd need to buy tickets in advance and make a reservation.   Else maybe the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach.

Agree, Disneyland is quite a bit farther so you would need time. Aquarium of the Pacific is great and its close to both ports, would still need to get a ride but you can do that as a day trip and there are lots of lunch options in the area around the Aquarium.
