Thank you, David.  That was wonderful watching the chick just sit there surrounded by the bigger birds.  How much longer until he can fly?

I have been watching him and only ever see him alone.  I hope the bigger birds were being friendly.  Lets hope he grows to full size.  How long will that take?

I have only seen him alone or with one parent before , but this one popped up on my you tube feed and I thought it worth sharing . I note the date at the top is 18 March 2020 .

While this Albatross is not Royal he is a wanderer.

The nest featured on Royalcam for the 2019/20 season is at Top Flat Track. It belongs to OGK (banded orange, green, black) a 21-year-old male, and YRK (banded yellow, red, black), a 25-year-old female. YRK laid the egg on 14 November 2019 and the chick, a female, hatched on 31 January 2020.

I took a brief look at her yesterday and she was flapping her wings.  Great shots BOECKLI.  Looking at the "Royal Families of past"  they seem to fledge in September so she has a long way to go.

I was watching this morning and she moved right away from the nest out of camera view and then came back. Prior to moving she was flapping her wings too.

The chick and I got really lucky this morning. The chick got fed - and I got to watch!!
