Norwegian App - Call / Chat feature ?

Hi - We are traveling with a larger group and are interested in the Norwegian app and the ability to call / chat with our friends on the ship. The Norwegian website says this is available for a nominal fee. Can anyone provide any more information about this? Specifically - how much it actually costs and how it works? Does everyone have to purchase this? Is there a chat feature baked into the app? How do the calls work? Is it wifi calling via the ships onboard network? Thank you !

$10 per device.  Everyone you want to communicate with  has to sign up and pay for it.

Works through the ncl app.  Worth the $10.  Not sure of group chat, but calls to device, rooms and text work ok.  Did notice that sometimes notifications didn't work, like app was asleep.

If I also have the free Internet minutes does messaging within the app count against my free minutes?  Or are there seperate ways to logon to the app and the Internet (from phone)?

You can use the app on the ship wifi all you want without using your minutes.  You'll log on/off the internet (just follow their directions) to use your free minutes.

Internet plans / promos and the NCL app are completely separate
