Celebrity Blue Chip Cruise Discount?

I posted this on Celebrity board before learning there was this site which would be the better place to post.

Asking anyone that has gone lately about how the Blue Chip discounts work .. I have learned some things by calling but I never seem to get all my answers.  My cruise is still a long way out but would love to know what others have experienced with getting discounts (not referring to free cruise offers).

What I have learned:

- discounts are based solely on play while on the last cruise you sailed immediately prior to the one to be booked/discounted

- they cannot apply anything until 6 months before but they are able to check what you would get

- your play level has nothing to do with the discount applied, only related to level perks that they list on their site

What I am uncertain of:

- if they quote you a discount ... $$ off your cruise ... is that a per room thing or per member ... could a second person/member in the room also get a blue chip discount for same room (if they qualify of course)?

- i read about it not applying to rooms booked with non refundable deposit ???  huh .. mine is booked this way and now wonder if that will impact ... this one makes no sense

I find I have such a hard time getting straight answers, feel like I ask two questions and get an answer to one and that answer makes me need to ask another.  My cruise being so far off I can only inquire at this point and not actually apply anything but it really would be nice to fully understand what to expect.

Thanks to anyone that can share their recent experiences!

In my experience , I call the BlueChip line directly. They let me know if the cruise I want is casino rates. Depends how far out. Usually I book at least a year in advance because I like certain cabins. Lately we have been booking Sky suites or better. The discount is usually one third off the cabin at my rate of play on slots,  this covers both of us as my spouse is not a player. We aren’t limited to class of stateroom. Just what we want to pay. Once I was told the cruise was too far out and they weren’t given the casino rates as of the date I called so we ended up going on Princess which is not as generous at the suite level.

I booked a cruise to Alaska in August 2019 for a cruise sailing June 2020.  I am sailing solo in an Aqua class cabin and the casino rate was close to a third off - rep I talked to said to call back after Jan. 1, 2020 and they would give me an additional $550 off - guessing this is the "six month before sailing discount" described by  the original poster.  Usually I try to just sail the cruises that are offers from the casino, but this is a trip I'm doing with very good friends.  I've been sailing with Royal and Celebrity, prefer Celebrity but get more offers from Royal.

BTW, have found that Celebrity responds pretty quickly to emails to the Blue Chip Club but I think they sometimes don't understand what the question is.
