Msc Armonia

I am sailing on the msc armonia in January.  I'm wondering if formal night attire is enforced?  I've been on other lines where formal night attire has ranged from shorts to tuxes.

I would recommend posting your question on the MSC section, in order to be noticed by more MSC cruisers.

In short, I expect the answer will be that you don't need to wear tuxedo/gown, but you will be expected to wear long trousers/dress or nice outfit, etc.

Very few mass market lines strictly enforce formal dress codes any more. Most have relaxed their policies, and give alternatives to any serious dress code requirements.

Since you did not mention your MSC Armonia January sail date, I am unable to direct you to the specific Roll Call thread for your cruise if one has already been established.

 

The Roll Call thread for your cruise is the place for you to get to know the other Cruise Critic members sailing with you before the cruise. Also, your fellow Roll Call members may have important information posted in your Roll Call thread. Your Roll Call thread is the ONLY place on Cruise Critic where you and your fellow Roll Call members may post personal ads about sharing tours, excursions, transportation etc. with each other. There is a "captive audience" since you are all sailing together!  You will receive a much better response to your share request if you take some time to read the entire Roll Call thread, post an introductory post about yourself, and continue on to get to know the other members and allow them to get to know YOU first before you post your share request. Although you will find you don't need to dress 'formally', there will be a lot of Europeans onboard and they take dressing for dinner seriously - especially the women.  And not just on formal nights.  On our cruise, 900 out of the 2000 onboard were not from North America.  EM

My experience from the Armonia. Teenagers with shorts were turned away from the Aurea My Choice dining restaurants.

That could be because when you present at that restaurant, it is the only place you could be going.  In the MDR for the rest of us, the problem is that it is divided by an elevator bank/stairwell.  And there is another elevator out the rear.  So people coming into the restaurant might be going through to the elevators, or might be staying.  We had a large table next to us where there were at least two young girls who owned nothing but shorts.  They were never turned away.  And the entire table tended to come late.  EM

We were on the Armonia in June 2019 - What we witnessed was most people did dress up, IF they were eating in the Marco Polo, or the Steak house.  The Buffet, never seemed to have an enforced dress code.

We had this experience as well.  Our itinerary was shuffled and second formal night was on the last evening so (at the second seating anyway) people were particularly informal.  In part I am sure due to needing to get luggage out by 11. If you dressed formal to dinner there you wouldnt really be able to do the activities after and get luggage out in time.

We were on the Armonia last week. I actually think fewer people dressed up for formal nights on MSC than Carnival. We wore nice clothes, but not formalwear. (IE dresses for women and Khakis/collared shirts for men) I just saw a picture of myself someone in my family took - I was sitting at dinner in my dress and noticed that there’s somebody sitting at a table behind me in a t shirt. So clearly there’s a mix. I saw ONE tuxedo all week.
