My husband and I buy one photo from each cruise and put them in a dedicated photo album. We can flip through the pages and see how we've aged! We have a photo from our NA sailing last spring.

fyree39, This is your cruise doctor. I suggest that you take 6 more cruises, and then check to see whether you are still aging. If yes, then repeat the treatment - 6 more cruises. Continue to do this until you achieve the desired result or can no longer cruise. 😉

We found out from a photographer on NCL last year that they have a shore quota. That’s why if you let them, they’ll arrange you in 42 different groupings and have you stand with the pirate, the parrot, and the ship’s wheel, then just the pirate and the parrot., ok, now just one funny face one for mom...

We used to wave them off and keep walking. Now we take a few shots so they can go on break and that poor parrot can get out of his feathers.

The casino people, the art folks, the Steiners (spa/gym), the shoppies (store staff) and the port shopping ambassador are all contract employees on HAL ships (and other lines). known as concessionaires. Their boss on the ship is the Business and Brand Manager (formerly the MOM - Manager Onboard Marketing), a HAL employee

Up until a few years ago, the photo staff also fell in the category of concessionaires however, that was changed and all photo folks now work under HAL contracts

I do not find the photographers on HAL to be too bad. If you say "NO" they usually respect my wishes.

And you are missing the point.  The photographer in question had no way of knowing what kind of excursion we were rushing to.  In this case it was a private tour, but it really doesn't matter, the point is that she was pushy.

Okay, okay... I give! 😃

DW and I have developed a strong dislike of ship photographers.....not just on HAL but any cruise line.  On a recent Princess cruise the photographers had this nasty habit of blocking passenger flow as we embarked in many ports.  At one point I nearly knocked down one of the photographers and suggested he get out of the way (my words were not that polite).  One nice discovery when we first cruised on Seabourn was that the line has no ship photographers nor do they waste a lot of space with photo galleries.

I am with you, Hank.

I have heard that Viking has no photographers either. But both Seabourn and Viking are too pricey for us. Since they make more money on the cruise ticket, they don't have to invent miscellaneous ways to make a profit, such as photography.

So I will just have to put up with them. But as others have said, they are not as bothersome as they used to be, at least on HAL
