popular excursions

are there any "must do" or popular excursions in grand turk?  never been here and going in 3 weeks on carnival.

Snorkeling off the WALL or doing Whale Watching if running or there's a stingray/shark (?) excursion to the otherside of the island.  Otherwise, most people just stay at the beach there or walk up to Jack's Shack.

You can rent a golf cart and drive around the island.  Not really much to see outside of the Lighthouse and the main drag in Cockburntown.  A taxi tour can provide a bit more information and history than the DIY golf cart.  Drivers love their island and are proud to show it off.  Just go to the taxi stand and ask around.

thanks!!!  is jacks shack walking distance from the pier?  our group is just planning on port shopping and drinking at Margaritaville; i'd like to drive a golf cart around a bit and check out jacks shack I think

No need for a golf cart to reach Jack's , it's a 5 minute stroll up the beach.  Golf cart for 1 is a bit expensive.  Holds 4, making it more affordable.

We took the whale watching excursion and were extremely disappointed.  I even researched online and we were supposedly there at the peak of the whale watching season.  So.... I paid a lot of money to bounce around in the ocean and see nothing but water.

 

Granted, I understand that spotting whales is not a guaranteed proposition, but when a company sells itself as being experts on a certain activity you'd think they'd at least be willing to offer a partial refund if things don't work out.
