DIY Fado

Is it possible to visit a fado bar on your own, in Lisbon, without doing a tour? Any recommendations for places that are not too expensive, are  authentic and where you can just have drinks and tapas as opposed to a full meal?

DW and I love Fado and manage to fit in a Fado evening whenever we are in Lisbon.  Our go to place is Senor Vinho which has an evening dinner with multiple top Fado performers.  Not only do we get to enjoy the quality local cuisine, but we get a few hours of some of the best Fado in the country.  For cruisers this only works if you have an overnight or very late departure.
