kids and sail cards

We are first time RC cruisers.  Taking our family on Grandeur 12/26/2020 - kids will be 12, 10, and 7.

How do you handle the kids having their ship cards? Is there a particular lanyard or something that you all suggest?

Thanks!

On Grandeur you can get guest services or Adventure ocean to punch a hole in the cards.  Breakaway lanyard either with or without the plastic sleeve will work.

and will they have to wear them at all times? or are there times I can carry them for the kids?

Actually, unless they will be going there in and out of the cabin or making purchases (e.g., the arcade, sodas, etc.), there is no need for them to carry it at all. The youngest will either be in Adventure Ocean or with you at all times so has no need to carry a card.

The kids don't have to have them at all really, only if they are going to be by themselves and need to purchase something or get into the room by themselves. Other than that you can carry the cards or even leave them in your room (unless they have beverage package or you are going into port)

My 10 year old carried her own card for the most part, she did have self check out from adventure ocean so she needed to be able to get back into the room. She was also allowed to go to a few places around the ship with one of her friends from on board or with her older sister so she sometimes needed it. But frequently she left the sea pass in the room if she was going to be with me at the pool or something similar.

She just wore her card on a thin lanyard. The super cheap kind is what she liked the best since it was thin didn't rub her neck as much.

Of course, but they don’t need to carry it themselves. In fact, if they are getting off the ship I would strongly recommend that the parents keep hold of the cards.

Just cruised the Grandeur and at Adventure Ocean they gave kids who didn't have a lanyard one.  They required us to show her card when she went in and they kept it until she left.  We bought the lanyard with the plastic sleeve for our kids because on some ships you cannot put a hole in the card because of a chip.

Our kids, same ages as yours, have always had their cards on lanyards all the time. They feel important and it’s part of the experience for them. We always have drink packages and they can go to any bar and get a mocktail and get something forgotten from our room.
