DW and myself are doing our first back to back cruise. In fact it is a back to back to back cruise to Australia and New Zealand in 2021. How does the whole process work, specifically on embarkation  and debarkation day.? Do we stay on board or leave the ship. We have the same cabin for all 3 segments. Do we have to vacate the room? Are new room cards issued with with our benefits for each segment? We will be Diamond for the trip so hope to get all the benefits on each section of the cruise.

 

Basically how do the process work!

We've done several B2B cruises - never Australia/NZ. You will receive new Sea Pass cards for each cruise.  There will be a meeting place for all "consecutive cruisers" on debarkation day. After all other passengers are off, they will take you off the ship as a group and bring you back on. They generally need to zero the passenger count before they bring passengers back on. There is usually a "special" lunch for consecutive cruisers once you re-board.

You do not have to pack if you are staying in the same room.

You would normally pack all the items that are not hanging in the closet.  The stateroom attendants would take the hangng items and your packed bags to the new stateroom. 

 

Best to confirm this with both stateroom attendants in advance.

Btw if you want to leave the ship to go sightseeing or shopping you can do that.  They will let you know what to do to get your new cards.  Also each cruise will have separate onboard accounts.

We've done a couple of B3B's out of Sydney.  Voyager and Ovation.

The OPT, Overseas Passenger Terminal, in Sydney is one of the most organized cruise terminals we've been through.  And what a great location...you will be walking distance to many sites.

 

Random thoughts:

* Depending on the number of repeating passengers, you may have a meeting.  It will be a couple of days before the end of each cruise and someone from guest services will be there to answer questions.

* Your new card will be delivered in your stateroom the last evening...or they may tell you to wait at one of the lounges and the new seapass cards will be distributed.

* If you want to disembark early and want to do some shore excursions, simply let guest services know and they will have your new seapass cards available and an "In-transit card".  You can disembark early, do your shore excursion, and when you come back...show your "In-transit card" to the wonderful cruise terminal employees and you will bypass all the lines...except the security line of course.

* And yes, if you decide to stay onboard during turn around day...there may be a "special" lunch for B2B passengers.  (Note: On the Voyager, one of our "special lunch" was at Giovanis...nice.)

* Staying in the same cabin for all 3 sailings is absolutely fantastic for you...no need to do anything on turn around day (please don't smile too much as disembarking passengers may get mad at you. 😁) Enjoy a nice, relaxing breakfast in the MDR...usually empty.

* You will have access to your stateroom/cabin during turn around day...just let them know you're a B2B passenger. (Come back and tell us if new passengers try to follow you in....it happens.)

* We certainly hope that you would consider disembarking on turn-around days in Sydney...it is one of our favorite cities in the world.  From the OPT, you will be walking distance to The Rocks, Circular Quay train station, the ferries, the Sydney Opera House, the botanical gardens, downtown, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge...just to name a few.

* We highly recommend purchasing the OPAL card.  This card will give you access to all the trains, buses, and ferries in Sydney.  You can use it as many times as you want per day and the most it will be debited is $15Aus...it could be a bit more now, but still a great bargain.

* Using the Opal Card, you are a short 5-minute walk to the Circular Quay train station...you can just about go anywhere from here.  You can take the bus to the world famous Bondi Beach.  You can also take the ferry and visit our favorite beach...Manly Beach.  All using the same Opal Card.

 

Envious...wish we were going.  Happy Sailing!
