Hi, we are going on the South American cruise March 1st.   Wondered if anyone had some good information on the different  tours at the ports.  Also wanted to know if there were any good private tours that are cheaper then the ones the cruise line  offers.

Boss ross:  Welcome to Cruise Critic.

Without knowing your specific interests or ports it is difficult to recommend tours or attractions.  But on the Cruise Critic forum index page go to the South America forum (located under Ports of Call).  There you will find a wealth of information.

We have done two series of South American cruises with Celebrity.  In 2015 we were on the Infinity for a B2B2B, and in 2019 we boarded the Eclipse in Buenos Aires to start another series of cruises.  Enjoyed our time in South America very much.

Would recommend you join the Roll Call for your cruise.   You should be able to find others that may be putting together private tours.

We are big fans of Tours By Locals and have used them often on South American Cruises.

Hi and welcome to Cruise Critic.  We have sailed on Eclipse and we have done the South American itinerary but we never got to do both at the same time!  We had a chance to sail on Infinity and we went from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires back in Dec 2016-Jan 2017.  It was a wonderful cruise and I am sure you will love it, too.  I did a review of our trip which you might find helpful: link

As mentioned earlier, your roll call will serve as an invaluable source of information.

Yes, definitely join the Roll Call for the cruise.

We sailed from San Antonio to San Diego on the Eclipse last March, and would happily do so again. We met delightful people on our Roll Call (over 6000 posts by the time we sailed). We shared private tours with members and will be sailing again B2B2B with folks we met, sharing tours on all three legs.

We had pre-cruise luncheons in SoCal, and had a lovely group lunch on board, as well as a cabin crawl and other events.

Enjoy!

Howdy and welcome to Cruise Critic! emo22.gif

To help you out I have moved your thread to the Ports of Call - South America forum where it will be on-topic. Please browse through the thread titles on this new forum looking for threads of interest. You will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that will be of interest to you.

Cruise Critic is a great resource for all cruisers, whether new or experienced, and we are so glad you found us! emo34.gif  Please feel free to browse the Cruise Critic Community Categories list. Read a few threads in the different forums to get a feel for what each forum is about. Make sure you read any pinned threads on top of the first page of threads in a forum. You will find very important instructions or information there that will be helpful.

Anytime you need to start a new thread on a forum, first make sure you are in the correct forum for your topic. Word your new thread title in a way to help the members know exactly the information you seek. This greatly helps the members browsing through the thread titles and if they know the information they will reply to you. It is best to limit each inquiry to only one topic or concerning one cruise line, one ship, one port of call, etc. and of course, on the correct forum. emo3.gif  You will get more replies that way. Be sure to mention your cruise line, ship, port or sail date in your inquiry. It will help the members to have the information they need in order to help you.

For information about the Roll Call thread for your cruise, please read What is a Roll Call? Everything you Need to Know and How To: Create A New Roll Call . For more information about our famous Roll Calls, please read the Roll Calls and Our Policy Regarding Facebook and Roll Calls sections in the Guidelines.

Click here Celebrity Eclipse March 1 2020 Buenos Aires to San Antonio Chile to go directly to your Roll Call thread. Your Roll Call thread is the place for you to get to know the other Cruise Critic members sailing with you before the cruise. Your fellow Roll Call members may have important information posted in your Roll Call thread, especially ones that have sailed your line, ship or itinerary before. Also, your Roll Call thread for your cruise is the ONLY place on Cruise Critic where you and your fellow Roll Call members are allowed to post personal ads about sharing private tours, excursions, transportation etc. with each other to save money. There is a "captive audience" since you are all sailing together! emo3.gif

And don't forget, after your cruise be sure to go to our  Member Cruise Reviews section and submit your review for publication. Many cruisers will benefit from your experience, and you might win a prize from Cruise Critic! emo34.gif See the latest list of winners:  Review Your Cruise and You Could Win -- These Members Did!
