Administrators Rare LauraS Posted January 22, 2020 Administrators #1 Share Posted January 22, 2020 (4:30 p.m. EST) -- Windstar has released the menu for Cuadro 44 by Anthony Sasso, a new Spanish restaurant debuting on the line's three all-suite motor yachts. Misty Morning Posted January 26, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2020 Looking forward to this new restaurant when they come online on the stretched ships. Menu looks very appealing
O2B@Cagain Posted January 26, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 26, 2020 Is this going to be like Candles? Where you get one reservation/trip then more if there is availability?

After that, second reservations are apparently permitted. Day-to-day dining spontaneity would be more luxurious in my opinion.
Misty Morning Posted January 26, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 26, 2020 The restaurant will be even smaller than Candles with only 44 seats. Even if they turn the seats 1.5 times (which I doubt they do), it’s still only 60 passengers a night and with 312 passenger onboard, it will leave only a bit of room for seconds. O2B@Cagain Posted January 26, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 26, 2020 Chip: Yes, we have learned to sign up for Candles during the embarkation process. We did get a second reservation when we asked after a few days.
Chipshot from Michigan Posted January 27, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 27, 2020 We got distracted by a cabin issue during embarkation (a white powder on the floor that was never identified) and never returned to the desk to make reservations. I can't imagine what logic to apply in choosing a date. Amphora's menu always had selections I found desirable.
Misty Morning Posted January 27, 2020 #9 Share Posted January 27, 2020 We usually book Candles on an late night in port evening (excluding the BBQ evening) or one where we are sailing slowly or with the wind. Chipshot you are right saying Amphora has great choices every evening, we also thought the same thing in November. Never ate the same thing over 2 weeks. Misty Morning Posted January 27, 2020 #11 Share Posted January 27, 2020 You can assume it will be on one of the evenings when late in port. If you tell me which cruise you are on, i can tell you when this BBQ is going to be held. Staff will also let you know when the BBQ is held is when you make reservations
new_cruiser Posted January 27, 2020 #12 Share Posted January 27, 2020 If there is one late night in port (e.g. departing at 10 PM), that will almost certainly be the deck BBQ night. None of the restaurants are open that night so you won't be able to book in conflict with it.
minidonuts85 Posted January 27, 2020 #13 Share Posted January 27, 2020 We are on the third "post-stretch" sailing of the Breeze from PV to SD. Definitely looking forward to trying this and the new grill; I wonder if the new Star Grill will be the Candles replacement. Admittedly we've never tried Candles. We always talk about it but like other have mentioned above, we really enjoy the food in Amphora.

O2B@Cagain Posted January 27, 2020 #15 Share Posted January 27, 2020 Chip: We made reservations while we were still in the Lounge getting checked in. Didn't wait to get the room or go to reception. Mini: We like to go to Candles once, just for something different. I prefer the fish selections in Amphora....

On the Star Legend in Oct, we were in the lounge waiting for a table; waiting only because we requested a particular server. The F&B manager was at the bar with us and offered us a table at Candles because they weren't full. If they didn't have the scallop/green papaya-napa cabbage salad entree on that night in Amphora, we would have.

O2B@Cagain Posted February 5, 2020 #18 Share Posted February 5, 2020 patty: I don't know about your cruise, but on our Transatlantic, we were excited to have the trip unfold day by day. Every night we would get our newsletter which would announce what was going on. There were plenty of activities, many they don't have on a "regular" cruise. I think these things are dependent on the weather.
