Had to change our plans today from Adventure to Oasis without much thought and absolutely no planning. Not new to RCCL but have never been on an Oasis class ship before. Since we are sailing with other family members I would like a little insight about what needs to be pre-booked etc. We are celebrating our Anniversary and 2 birthdays. Any info would be great!

Good start on Oasis info here:  https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?type=forums_topic&search_and_or=or&search_in=titles&nodes=51&q=oasis

Major difference is that there are so many guests on Oasis that they cannot fit all the guests into the traditional two shows in the main theater, so they offer reservations for shows.

The only thing we didn't like about Oasis was having to make advance reservations for shows, etc.

Otherwise, enjoyed the ship!   🙂

Yep, that's one of the bad parts.  If you miss your reservation, then you have to use the standby line for antother performance.

For someone who has had 3 cruises on Quantum class ships but none on any Oasis class ships, which Oasis class ship would be the best one to book right now, ignoring the fact that most itineraries are boring?

Sailing next week or at some future point in time?

Where do you want to depart from?  New Jersey, Miami, Port Canaveral, Galveston, Barcelona?

True, strictly speaking, but guest services has always been willing to rebook me for another time (if it's available, of course).

That's a good question.

Departure port, I obviously prefer Harmony out of Pt Canaveral followed by Allure out of Ft Lauderdale

Oasis wins based on shows and new stuff, but I love CATS, so go figure.  Aqua show and Ice Show are both good as well

Symphony has a good mix of restaurants and shows

Allure has Mama Mia which is very popular, and doesn't have the slides yet, so that appeals to some

Harmony would be last on my list except for the location

Was asking more about the ships than the ports or itineraries, would be easiest RT out of Bayonne but I saw CATS 30 years ago.

Allure leaves for Europe March 1.

She'll be Amped when she returns.

The drydock is right away, so she'll also be Amped for the Med season

Goes to PC summer of 21 and transitions to Galveston in fall of 21

Sounds like Oasis is your girl!  Recently renovated makes her the "newest" of the Oasis-class ship, although cabin decor hasn't changed, if that's important to you. Departure port is easiest.  You don't care about the crappy itinerary so that is a non-issue.

Plenty to do so you could skip CATS and not be bored.

Symphony, without a doubt. We have sailed all the oasis class ships and believe that symphony has the best entertainment of the four.

Enjoy

Close

CATS is better than Hairspray - Oasis

Flight is better than One Sky - Symphony

Aqua80 is better than Hiro - Oasis

Ice shows are a toss up

Portside BBQ is better than Hooked - Oasis

Music Hall is better than Wonderland - Oasis

Solarium is better on Symphony

Windjammer is way better on Symphony

In my opinion

Both ships are more of the destination than the itineraries. I've been on both, and even with the redo on the Oasis, I'd take the Symphony.

Have you sailed Oasis since the Amplification

John I assume the charters are because of the Super Bowl.   Will the ships sail out of port or stay and be used as accommodations for VIP etc?

Book the Aqua Theater show as early in the cruise as possible.  The shows are all good but I think the Aqua Theater is one of the things that separates the Oasis Class.  This show can (and does) get cancelled due to weather or sea conditions.  If you plan to watch early in the week and it gets cancelled, you can see it later in the week.

Oasis and Symphony are Chick fil A

Full charters

Allure is a partial charter

Mario got moved to the Allure

Theme is Grown & Sexy

I know another couple on it

Interesting note on Chick fil A

They paid a massive fee to close the casino

Not sure about the bars

And you can watch from deck 7 without reservations, or if you want a different perspective.

access via the deck 7 hallway or walk up  from Aqua Theater like you were headed to the Rock Wall
