Rum choices

I'm not a rum drinker; but my cousin asked me to bring back a bottle of rum that's not available in the states.  Any suggestions?  Thanks

They are all for sipping, but for some palates a small cube, then let it sit, for Mount Gay, just to take out some of the heat.

Feel it may be down as to what lengths you are willing to go for a friend, as the Foursquare expressions may be only available direct from Foursquare, as they are considered very desirable for collectors/drinkers.  So contact has to be made with Foursquare prior to arrival.  

This also goes for St Nicholas, as the 18 may only be available on a visit.

This leaves Mount Gay and KanIche, both excellent rums, which should be available in the Port Duty Free outlets.  On the palate, both are complex and thought provoking, with MG is slightly more towards a Bourbon style finish, with K being more of a Rum sweet finish.  

If on a budget, then the K, being not considered expensive by some.  But you get what you pay for in life.

All rums are not messed about with, by the additions of sugar, flavours etc.  Pure.....

So your final decision will be down to how good a friend is your friend.
