Which side of ship

We are cruising on Navigator from New York to Dublin via east coast, Greenland, Iceland, British Isles.  We currently are in a Port side cabin, but a Starboard side has opened up.  We tend to enjoy the dock side when in port. Anyone have any opinion on best side for this cruise?

Starboard will give you more chance of sun on your balcony as you are sailing eastbound.

In port it will make no difference as the ship could be docked either way round.

Personally, I would simply opt for whichever suite appears to be in the most convenient location on the ship, using SuiteGuru to check for any previous reviews.

I always pick the side that's got the sun personally so it can hopefully have some sun on the balcony. In port I like not being alongside the pier as they can be very noisy but that's pretty minor, the Regent doors seem to be quite effective and blocking out sound when closed.

You have a TA going east - so want to be as much south-facing as you can.  Therefore starboard.  Going west - port.

Interestingly, we have always done the opposite, as we are not sun people.  On all of our 14+ transatlantics, have always chosen suites facing north.  For example, Westbound TA's, Starboard....

Happy Cruising!!

Different strokes for different folks!   I cannot do without sunshine.  That said - I don't lie out in it either!  Your post serves to reinforce the point being made - there is a sunny side and a less-sunny side.

Thanks all for your input.  We have decided to stay with the port cabin as we will be going more North and South than East.  As we go up the coast of Canada the port side will have the sun. As we go south around the British Isles, the starboard side will have the sun.  But it looks like the view side around Greenland and Iceland will be more port side as Kjbacon suggested.

Anyway, turns out the cabin has been sold, so it's now a moot point.

But again, thanks so much for all your input.  😎

Keep in mind, depending on the time of year of your cruise, Iceland very, very far north and approaching Midnight Sun latitudes with Jun 21 obviously being the longest day/shortest night.

The North side of the island is past 66N. Not sure of your route around Iceland but assuming the port side is facing north there is a very good chance you might have direct sunlight in your suite at midnight if it's June.

Thanks.... we will be there in June.  In fact our first Greenland port is June 24 and we depart Reykjavik June 30.  So lots of sun.  😎
