Very cool that the Doobie brothers with Micheal McDonald went into the rock and roll hall of fame this week, Micheal gave one of the best concerts on rock and romance a couple of years ago also had one of the most interesting interviews with his wife , can’t wait to see him again.

Thanks guys.  I don't have a lot to say, except that these cruises would seem to be ideal to require everyone to have safe, effective vaccines before boarding.

Our 2022 cruise no longer says its on Infinity just says a Millennium class, which is good since many have had recent retrofits and infinity has not.

Hi George! We're booked on ECP's Smooth Jazz cruise (Jan '22). We were originally told that our cruise would be on one of X's 'Revolutionized' Millennium Class Ships. The only two ships that fit the bill are Millie and Summit (which looks like it will be our ship). Sadly, Infinity and Constellation never made it to the 're-furb' stage -- and it's reported that they may be sold. 😞

I saw infinity had other bookings the week of our cruise , she needed a refurbished, have not cruised on any ship that has been Revolutionized yet curious about the new retreat area, we had Edge booked for April but canceled that since I doubt it will sail. Wonder if they will have issues getting some of the artist got sail after Covid. Hopefully everything will go as planned for both of our cruises.

There is one bad thing about refurbish of suite lounge , I understand they removed the piano from the suite lounge, during rock and romance cruises we heard some of the artists playing there for themselves which was very cool.

There used to be some sites dedicated to listing themed cruises, but the current situation has kind of scrambled them, so the best thing to do now is just use your favorite search engine to look for the theme of your choice.

 

In addition, there are some providers (e.g., Entertainment Cruise Productions, StarVista Live, and Sixthman) that host several themed cruises each.  You can do a search on those separately.

Excellent advice! I know that, several years ago, I stumbled on ECP's Smooth Jazz Cruise page, quite by accident. I was searching for information on how to sign up for one of Dave Koz's cruises (which book-up ridiculously fast) when I learned about the Smooth Jazz & Blue Note at Sea cruises. LOL -- STILL haven't made it to a Dave Koz sailing, but DH and I have taken 2 Smooth Jazz Cruises, and are booked for a third (fingers crossed for next year)!

Original date for star vista rock and romance was this week, but now have to wait a year , hopefully everyone listed will still be there , have seen several on previous rock and romance cruises. Dave Koz cruise sounds great.

I really like the lineup for the Rock and Romance week, and the price surprised me. I thought it would be more. Unfortunately we have plans. If we can find a similar lineup in the future, it is a go.

Many acts repeat , several scheduled we have seen in past like BJ Thomas, Air Supply and several others, there is so much different music music at the same time that War was on a few of our cruises and we never had a chance to catch them, one of favorites is America and they seem to play every other year.

Hi guys.  I finally created some news - I signed up for a second themed event.  It's not a cruise this time, but 5 days at an all inclusive.  It's called 80s in the Sand and I will be enjoying musical acts and other things from that decade  It's expensive and not on a cruise ship, but the junior suite I paid for promises to be the best room I've ever had anywhere.  The resort looks like it has plenty of space outdoors and lots of space to socially distance, if that's still a thing.  🤞  The fun will be October 25-30 (about 4 months before my 80s Cruise) in the relatively relaxed environment of Cancun, Mexico.  I'm looking forward to it and hoping no spikes, variants, or hurricanes ruin the fun.

Yes, I definitely approve.  👍  Which ones were on R&R, if you don't mind me asking?  The people who do this kind of thing year after year tend to be the ones that are proven to put on good shows.

Cheap trick and Little river band, one of the band members of little river band got married during the last rock and romance cruise , wedding was on pool deck , we didn’t attend. My taste in music are closer to 60’s than 80’s .

I received an interesting e-mail today from the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise, who lost their cruise last year due to the pandemic and are rescheduled for November of this year.  First of all, it looks like it's a go - definitely not a certainty when there were far more cases around earlier in the year.  Second, they switched ships from the Eurodam to the Nieuw Amsterdam and are working on rebooking everyone on the new ship.  Third, they're requiring proof of vaccination for all passengers.  This is the first music charter that I've heard of that has required a vaccine - or indeed, mentioned it at all.  Then again, this cruise is scheduled to be one of the first music charter cruises out on the high seas since the pandemic started.  Will this be the start of a trend?  Who knows?  Certainly the demographics of the passengers and guests on these cruises would seem to indicate a mandate would be a pretty good idea overall.  And fourth, passenger capacity will be limited to 80%.  That might be fuller than some other cruises at that time, and maybe some arenas on land.  Will THIS be a trend for future charters?  Again, who knows?

 

This e-mail gave me something to think about in the absence of real news.  80s in the Sand continues to be a go, though I'm a little worried about cases rising in the Cancun area and the state's governor mumbling about adding more restrictions.  I'll let the situation work itself out; there's a few months to go until that starts.

Just heard some very sad news B J Thomas who was on two years ago and scheduled to be on in February just passed away , extremely friendly guy was in a elevator with him he talked to all of us shook everyone hands and took pictures with those who wanted. Also told some very funny stories, we were looking forward to seeing him again.

I'm sorry to hear this.I'm sure you and many others have great memories of him. For me it's a reminder of how many musicians of my era have already passed away, how many more will do so in the next few years, and how the time is now to see them one last time.
