What do men wear for dinner on Alaskan cruise?

We will be going on the Celebrity Eclipse in September and I was just wondering if men need a jacket in the dinning rooms onboard the ship?

I read that it's very casual for this cruise. Any answer will be helpful, thank you.

IT is the same as all of the Celebrity cruises.  There will be casual and evening Chic nights.  Men are not required to wear jackets or ties at evening Chic.  There will always be some that dress up, tie, sport coat, suit and sometimes a tux, but there are always many who just have a nice dress shirt and slacks.  It is your vacation, dress to be comfortable within the guidelines.  We are so happy we no longer need to pack heavy sport coats, but that is our choice.   Enjoy your cruise.  Alaska is a wonderful adventure

Great summary, on an Alaska cruise my feeling is bring layered clothing and don’t worry too much about dinner.

It has been our experience on at least 6 Alaska sailings that evenings tend to be a bit more casual than on our other cruises.  Still should stay within guidelines, but you will usually see fewer jackets and fancier clothes than normal for Celebrity.  In fact, we often saw people in jeans, sweatshirts, and heavier boots/shoes (not necessarily on Chic nights, but on other nights)

On our Alaskan cruise, there was a notice suggesting men wear long sleeved shirts to dinner.  As mentioned, attire is more casual on these cruises than in the Caribbean.  You will see sweaters and cruisers dressed in layers.

Alaskan cruises are uniquely casual, even on 'Chic night.'  Prepare to dress up up if you like, but layering with a good sweater, vest, or windbreaker is common.  Public areas of the ship may also be cool due to the outside temperatures.
