Celebrity BCC how to get started

We Will be on the Edge  next week. Before our Celebrity Cruise last October, we phoned the BCC in response to a marketing postcard we received.  Very confusing call and, honestly, just gave up.  On board that cruise, the casino director was a bit scattered, and we only played slots a little. Prefer craps and may play a moderate amount on this next cruise and be rated (or the cruise ship equivalent)  Do we need to check in with cashier for a players card prior to table play rated when we get onboard the Edge next week?

Thanks for any advice. We are on the Eurodam now, but the craps table has not attracted any players yet on this cruise.  Figure that there will be more activity on the Edge.

Your sign and sail card should have your status on it, they are affiliated with MGM and will show that status. I would check with casino manager.

Just present your room key when you buy in at a table game or insert in a slot machine.

I booked several cruises through BCC and it was pretty good in terms of deals.

My upcoming cruise on the Edge was booked through an independent junket rep and they gave a much better discount than BCC.

Just get rated on this cruise and you will have a starting point for future trips.

Note that if you were on a Celebrity cruise in October and used your room card while playing slots or showed it while playing tables then you are already a member of Blue Chip Club. If you did very little play as you describe then you likely earned few points and would be in the lowest tier but you should still be a member. Just check with the casino staff once you're onboard.

So ... to date any 'Blue Chip' points I've had came strictly from ship casino play as I have no MGM near me.  If the Blue Chip is affiliated with MGM, does that mean that if I play in a land MGM casino (say in Vegas), that points earned there count to keep status in the Blue Chip?

I am amethyst right now but only have one cruise booked on Celebrity a year out so i anticipate losing my status, but I am going to Vegas this summer so would be very interested to know if I could align my play somehow.

Your play at MGM casinos and the tier level you earn in their MLife program from your play can get you offers from Celebrity or Royal Caribbean. If you are Platinum or Noir level with MLife then you automatically get a free cruise each year with Celebrity or Royal Caribbean. See details here: https://www.mgmresorts.com/en/mlife-rewards-program/preferred-partners/royal-caribbean-and-celebrity-cruises.html

The points you earn with Mlife will not impact the points you earn with Blue Chip.

Conversely, you can match your Captain's Club level (NOT your Blue Chip tier level) with MLife to move up your Mlife tier and thus increase your benefits with MLife. The points you earn with Blue Chip do not impact the points you earn with MLife. My husband and I did this tier matching. Our Elite Plus status with Celebrity earned us Platinum level status with Mlife. Note that when you tier match this way to Platinum with Mlife you cannot get the annual free cruise; you have to actually earn your points through play at MGM casinos up to Platinum status to get the free cruise. https://www.celebritycruises.com/things-to-do-onboard/casino/m-life-partnerships

Note that your Mlife tier resets itself each year at the end of September. However many points you earned playing at MGM casinos that past year will determine where your tier level starts for the next year. The tier match with Celebrity will also reset at that time and you will need to rematch it. We matched tiers to Platinum in September of 2018 (we were already Gold with Mlife) and it was valid through September of 2019. At that point we dropped down to Pearl as we had not done as much play with MGM that year. In December we visited Vegas and rematched back to Platinum with Mlife. Since your Captain's Club level with Celebrity never goes down you will always be able to match to at least the same level with Mlife that you did the prior time. Based on our play in Vegas in December we have earned enough points to almost have reached Platinum status naturally (one more MGM visit by September should do it for us). If that happens we won't need to do the tier match with Celebrity for the next tier earning year and we should be able to get the free cruise next year.

I  booked my Celebrity Cruise through an independent host.

When I looked at what they assigned my tier level , it is Pearl. I have been Platinum with M Life for over 8 years.

I would not care but it looks like there are some free play and promo chip benefits to being a higher tier.

Is that something the casino host on the ship could address or just forget about it?

Pearl is the lowest level for Blue Chip. You only need one point to become Pearl. I assume when you come into Blue Chip via a partner they automatically make you Pearl. This is the benefits chart for Blue Chip. 01-21-SP-Casino-BCC-Chart-Update.pdf?cid
