I will get some more hotel photos this morning. We are meeting for breakfast and then catching the hotel shuttle to the port at 10:30. $6 per person

this is a nice enough property.....thE outdoor spaces (tiki bar/restaurant) etc, beachfront are definitely highlights. Typical bar food, sandwiches and appetizers were very good and reasonably priced.  The rooms are a tad worn. But the bigger issue is there are no balconies..... which is sort of a deal breaker for me. In fact, kind of surprised I booked this property since I am sure I knew that, but it was so long ago I’ve forgotten what compelled me to book it 😜

Doubletree on the other side of us has balconies, but they've been closed with hurricane damage since Mathew

Chris, would you recommend this hotel?

I would.. We stayed there for two nights back in September.. From the moment we checked in till the moment we left.. their service was exemplary..

I accidentally left my black tie in the room.. when we got back, there was a small package waiting for me at home.. They mailed the tie back to my house.. I don't think another hotel would do that for you..

We're on the cruise next Sunday. Please post your experience regarding the screening at the port. Have a great cruise!

I shall. We are heading there shortly.

I have followed some threads that say boarding starts earlier than 11 am at PC.

I saw what time the shuttle is taking you to port, if there is anyway you can find out what time boarding starts I would appreciate.

Thanks

Safe travels.

will do 🤗

We were onboard at 10:55. If you check in via the app, and scan your passport, you will have “expedited” boarding, bypasses several lines. Obviously boarding started early because there were a sea of people on the promenade when we boarded. We actually got into the wrong line on the second level of the terminal, which probably added a good 5 minutes to the process.

The additional “health screenings” consisted of the check in agents asking three questions.

Easy peasy..... first pina colada in hand 🤗

Glad to hear about the “health screening”. Makes me feel better to know that’s all it is. We will be on this same cruise in just a few weeks.

the lines at all the pool bars have been LONG. There are now some roving wait staff, and the rooms are open.

made reservations for Sabor, checked in at Shore excursion desk to find out if we could choose our cabana at coco beach. You cannot. They are randomly assigned. Apparently we will find out which one in a few days.....

Thanks so much for your info.  We are sailing March 1st. We added the Royal app to our phones. When you say scan your passport, do you mean put your passport on your phone ahead of time thru the passport app or do they scan the actual passport right at check in? Thanks again for your help!

when you do your check in thru the RC app, as part of the check in process, it asks you to scan your passport. Then when you move thru the priority check in lines at the port, they will just verify the scanned passport data matches you actual passport

We are heading to Sabor shortly for dinner.

day 1 observations.....

our muster station was in jazz on 4. No one paid attention, and people talked and were on their phones the entire time. I for one was  happy when they moved to indoor venues, without life vests, but honestly, when it was more uncomfortable at least people paid attention. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The staff seems a bit frazzled, and not particularly friendly. But perhaps that’s because  I’ve observed quite a few passengers being particularly rude. Several casino club members complaining when they couldn’t get free drinks in the casino. Ummmmm, Because it’s not opened yet? .....bartender said they would have to pay for drinks until the casino opened. At which point they complained that the casino bar shouldn’t be open if “they” couldn’t get free drinks....sheesh.......

I can actually see our unit. I had only opened one of our hurricane shutter panels this morning.
