I'll make a small wager that this guy is a member of CC who asked the media to contact them. The same one who stated he was sick last evening, you know to get a full refund (before Royal offered a full refund today).

I was wondering if that guy from CC is going to have a spontaneous healing and go on the ship now.

Can not bear to read thru 6 pages. But everyone BUT royal seems to know that testing will take a min of 2 days.

Heres another monkey wrench. Next week all the kids are off of school for winter recess in the northeast. Wanna bet the ship is booked to 110 % capacity. And thats all royal is looking at.

Average has been 108-109% on a normal week. This week when it sails, lot less as many back out. Worst I saw was Fall 2001 when the newest/Largest Royal ships sailed at about 85%. They were giving Cruises away cheap.  Royal is already giving back the 50-50 and with paying extras, hindsight would been cheaper for them to cancel the whole Cruise

Just received an update from Royal Caribbean stating the test have come back negative and we will proceed with the Bermuda sailing on Monday. It seems like we have finally reached the end of the delay!!

I posted that four hours ago in post #143.

The article seems to be sensationalized a bit...

"a bit"???

First of all, what this one passenger described was not so bad, and clearly not the fault of the cruise line.

But something else jumped out at me.

Their "interview" with the dock worker?  I disembarked on Friday, and saw dozens of workers, all wearing masks..........around their necks.  They had no interest in having that mask over their faces.

I posted that...

Jedge is the OP. He is traveling (from Kansas) with his expectant wife and 2yo. He has been very good about coming back and sharing whatever information he has in a very timely fashion.

I'm sure it has been a very stressful few days for him. He did a good job posting.

Most likely in hiding from CC, not from sickness (his or communal), until another complaint surfaces to which they need to vocalize about.

Thank you!

Can anyone tell me about FCC with existing reservations? Can I apply it to something I booked already or can it only be used on new bookings?

We received FCC from the shortened Harmony cruise last September from hurricane Dorian. We ended up with a 3-night cruise versus the original 7-night cruise. Our offer was a 4-night refundable OBC and a 5-night FCC if we sailed.

You can apply it to something already booked but be aware it is calculated by the actual cruise fare paid PER PERSON for the cruise affected. Depending on the sale you booked the cruise under the 1st passenger may have a significantly higher cruise fare than the 2nd passenger. And passengers 3 & 4 in the same cabin have even lower fares paid.

We applied the FCC from Harmony to a Majesty cruise we took 2 weeks ago. Pricing worked out that I still had additional FCC left after we booked the Majesty cruise. But I could not apply it to our upcoming Harmony cruise in April until after I completed the Majesty cruise. So you can only apply your FCC to one cruise at a time.

We did also get the full 7 nights C&A points for the shortened 3-night sailing.

edit:  I should also note that we had used $750 in RC Visa credits on the Harmony cruise. That was a mess. We were not going to get any of that back in the refundable OBC and/or FCC as they were saying that was not $$ paid for the cruise fare. They also said they could not refund the $750 Visa credits used... they would just be gone. We escalated this up the line and kept getting different answers from RC depending on who we talked to. Luckily one person left us a voicemail that we would get all the refunds / FCC based on the cruise fare prior to any of the Visa credits. They ended up honoring this as an “exception” since I had the voicemail.  We learned to not use our Visa credits on cruises with a higher chance of changes (hurricane season).

Give me a break! Well at least the hamburgers at McDonalds are better than the ones in Windjammer. Wait until he tries one of those. Then he will really have something to complain about.

I can't believe the logic to fly all the way from the UK and choose a ship on a crappy itinerary in the winter  with Nassau and Florida as ports? They should of just flown into Florida to take a cruise with better and warmer ports.

Just back from breakfast at the hotel and spoke to many fellow cruisers. Everyone I spoke to were happy that they stayed and happy to cruise tomorrow. They are also happy with the RC compensation. We should find out later today at what time the coach will pick us up tomorrow to bring us to the port. Many are making the best of the situation by visiting Manhattan today. We spoke to some people yesterday at the hotel that decided to cancel and go home. I wonder if they regret that decision now with the confirmed negative results.

SO TRUE.

We have some FCC from when RCCL cancelled our grandeur cruise after just sailing for 15 minutes.

We applied the FCC to a cruise this May but because of the pricing model, didn’t use all of the second passengers FCC. We had to lay out money for the first passenger and have FCC left over for the second. We can’t use the remainder until we return in June. Because of our cruise scheduling and final payment requirements we likely will not be able to use the remaining FCC.

Seems a shame that you can’t lump the FCC

Thanks for keeping us all updated with what was happening and the overall great attitude with a crappy situation.  I truly hope you can relax a bit now and enjoy your cruise!

That’s not what happened at all and you know it. His whole point was that RC said he couldn’t board because he was sick so would get a full refund, but had to come sick to the port to claim it.

Agreed.  It's always nice to see the OP return and post good news.  Hope he and his family have a great cruise.   If posting on CC was an Olympic sport, he'd still win a a Silver medal for coming in second. 🙂

Hope the OP comes back after the cruise to let us know how everything went.

To confirm an earlier post, we are allowed to board at 3 pm today! Our hotel has graciously offered to let everyone out of tonight’s reservations. We will be boarding today and will finally get to unwind a bit. To both the negative and positive commenters here, thanks for your input. Whether you agree or disagree with what some of us have said about our situation, it does helping getting others perspective on things. My son (2 yo) has been extremely excited to see the big giraffe on the ship. Today is the day!

I second this. Somehow that thread spun out of control and the original message - about the catch-22 situation in the silly and inconsistent rules - were lost in the verbal sparring that followed.

The communication from RCI has been horrible!  We left late yesterday afternoon because we didn’t want to spend another 2 days (4 in total) in a hotel that was basically in an industrial port with nothing to do. They’re reimbursing us $200 for a flight home without thinking that buying a ticket to fly same day is at least 5 times that cost.  We left because they told us that we wouldn’t be able to board until Monday.  Now they change their mind and let boarding start today.  We would have stayed!  Every update they issued changed something they said before.  I’m loyal to RCI (diamond plus, signature in casino) but will look at switching.  I’m sure I’ll be one of a thousand that send an email to Michael Bailey.

We're rounding up the family now to load the car for another trip to Jersey! Thanks RC! Our kids are so excited to board today even if we're sitting put overnight!

Have fun, stay safe!
