My personal experience with the Surfliner has been terrible, but I used facts over anecdotal experience.

2018 is the latest year for which Amtrak has released stats.

The entire line south of the problem was experiencing the delay BECAUSE of the problem, not just the route north of LA.

 

Don't you want the OP to be able to make their second cruise? Why the defense of the indefensible?

So were 11 of the 12 Surfliners yesterday.

What's no one has addressed is the possibility of a delayed debarkation.  San Diego can be a pain to clear CBP.
