Jordan475 Posted February 17, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2020 Hello all, My partner and I are taking our first cruise in late May. It is the Carnival Fascination, leaving San Juan (with a night at a hotel in Old San Juan) with stops in St. Thomas, Sint Maarten, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, and Barbados. We have usually done independent travel in the past, so this will be a new experience. We're in our mid-late 30's. We've never been to any of these islands before (though I have been to San Juan) and would like a nice variety of excursions (whether ship based or otherwise). I'd like to have some combination of beaches, snorkeling, historical sites, hikes, maybe rum distilleries, but not sure what would be best on which island to get a nice variety. Basically something unique to each island, to get a good experience. I would appreciate any thoughts! Quote Edit
Aplmac Posted March 6, 2020 #2 Share Posted March 6, 2020 As first-timers, perhaps the best thing you can do is a general island tour of each stop. That way you get to see a bit of everything. Don't hang around Port areas, 'exploring'. That's a poor waste of time. Pay $20/25-and-up to join a crowd on a tour bus or coach, and see the sights! Lots of local opportunities to hire such ^ on the pier, per island-stop so little need to do ship's tours, unless you feel vulnerable for some reason NEXT cruise you'll have a better idea how you might narrow things down a bit. ireashmott Posted March 8, 2020 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2020 We are doing that cruise for the second time next week. Here is what we do: St Thomas - taxi to Coki Beach or another public beach (bring a banana if you want lots of fish while snorkeling) St Maarten - taxi to the intense zipline (beautiful view!) and then taxi to a beach (likely Little Bay) St Kitts - taxi to Frigate Bag St Lucia - zipline booked through the ship Barbados - catameran booked though a company Enjoy!
