Shipwreck Beach Qs

Trying a new beach on our cruise next week to Saint Kitts. Decided on shipwreck Beach. Looks like and sounds like a nice quiet relaxing beach day. Does anyone know how much the taxi should be to get there? From the port to this beach does the taxi go by the lookout spotWhere the Caribbean and  Atlantic meet? How was the water/swimming/snorkeling there recently? I read a little while ago about there being sea urchins? Thank you

From the port to Shipwreck on South Friars should be about $15 each way for up to 4 passengers sharing the ride. All traffic to South Friars goes over Sir Timothy Hill. It is probably one of the most visited stops on St Kitts.

You might have to ask your driver to stop on Timothy Hill.  Not all stop there automatically.  Shipwreck is just at the bottom along the coast.

Think the beach may still be at about 45 deg.

Planning on going next month to shipwreck. How is the snorkeling?  do they rent  snorkeling gear?  how much?                                    Thank you!

There's one place, this being to to right of the floating pontoon.  But it's not great, or even good, and when the sea churns up he sand, which happens regularly, nothing.

Never enquired about rentals, as always brought own.  But you can ask them direct.

If you want snorkelling, then swim towards the rocks off Carambola, again not great, but you may see something.

For any sport, take a trip.  St. Kitts is not known for good sport.

It was $8 pp each way for 2 people, $4 pp for 4+ people each way.  Take your own snorkel gear....it isn't great there but parallel to the beach between Carambola and Shipwreck you will see some fish.  There were a lot of sea urchins when we were there a few years ago.  Definately not great snorkeling on this island.
