WOW band Question

I was browsing the RCL app for my upcoming Anthem cruise, and saw a notice that they will be selling WOW bands on the 1st day.  I saw a post from 2018 that said the WOW band ($4.95) worked the same as a Sign & Sail card as a room key and for charging drinks.  Are they still $4.95, and are they really a benefit?  I've never minded carrying a card, so I'm trying to understand whether the wristbands are useful or  not.

I use them to unlock my cabin door.  Handy with a drink in your hand.

The ability to use them at a bar or towel station I don't find convenient.

I re-use old ones, I wouldn't pay for it every cruise if I couldn't re-use them.

I have had the WOW band and it is still $4.95.  I thought it was great for opening the cabin door.  Other than that, I found it is not so great.

If I ordered a drink at  a show or at a table in a bar, I needed to take the band off to give to the waiter because they didn't have hand held readers.  I also had problems with the slot machines when using the band in the casino. It didn't always register, so I got no credit for some play or someone else got credit for my play.

I ended up having my card with me all the time because of the above reasons.  I do think it would be great for kids who are in the pool most of the day though.

I was thinking the same thoughts. I loved my Band while in the pool or at the beach and also for opening cabin door. We got ours free for being in a Suite and I will take them with me on the next cruise if they stopped issuing them to Suite Guests. Do they still have them waiting in your cabin for each person in different colors???

In cabin yes, not necessarily different colors.

THANKS Biker19 😄 Another quick question...Can I give my old WoW Bands to other family members to activate for their cabins, or will they pay the 4.95 still as an activation fee???

Most ships do seem to allow recycling of bands, don't think it matters where they came from.

Biker, who has noticed that for the first time folks are selling Wow bands on eBay.

I'm also interested in using the Wow bands on my upcoming Anthem sailing.  I'm in a regular balcony room, so I'd assume that we need to go to Bolero's on Embarkation Day to purchase them?  And do we get a choice of colors?

Thanks!

I saw a lot of people being miffed on Anthem because they had to take them off to get a drink. Might have some usefulness for opening the cabin door with one's hands full but from my observations I'll stick to the key card.
