Upgrading from Easy to Premium

I’m aware of what the fine print says. I’m NOT trying to scam MSC. 

I’m sailing in an Aurea cabin and have the Easy drink package. My husband is fine with this. I am not. I prefer wines not included, Margaritas, and Malibu. I am wondering if anyone has successfully upgraded only one of the people in a cabin to a higher beverage package. I do not intend to get drinks for anyone other than myself with it, so please refrain from commenting unless you can answer my question. Thanks

I've seen one person state they were able to do it on the ship, although I really don't think it's likely to happen.  Since MSC drink/bottle prices are still comparatively reasonable I would recommend just purchasing a few special drinks as needed and use the Easy package as possible.  It will be more cost effective than upgrading two people to Premium - assuming a US based sailing.

We sailed on the Meriviglia 2/16/20.  Once on the ship we were approached about upgrading our drink package.  My husband upgraded his, and I kept the Easy Package.

How much did it cost your hubby to upgrade?

Thanks for confirming. So far, I’m unable to upgrade prior to cruising.

It's currently $27 USD to upgrade from Easy to Premium. If you do it aboard, there's a 15% Service Charge applied to the entire upgrade cost.

He paid $215 to upgrade for the week, and it was well worth it.  I kept the Easy package as I usually drink wine.

FWIW - you have to call or have your TA do it if you want to do it in advance. Can't be done online.

And if you do it in advance, all adults in cabin have to upgrade.

Anecdotally, lots have been able to upgrade just one person once aboard, but they do pay the service charge on upgrade amount.  Your mileage may vary on being able to do so..

I guess I’ll have to pay the 15% charge once onboard. Thanks for your help.

Yup, works out to $217.35 pp to upgrade aboard.
