SF Alcatraz at Night Tour

Recommended Posts

We are going to be in SF for one day in April on a Pacific Coastal Cruise. We will be in port til 11pm. My husband was looking at booking a nighttime Alcatraz tour 5:45-7:45ish on his own, not through HAL excursions. Im concerned about getting back to the ship on time. Are there typically issues with the ferries that go to Alcatraz getting back on time or are they pretty good? I’ve booked 1/2 my tours w ships & 1/2 on my own in the past, but dealing with ferries makes me a bit more nervous re: problems.

Ok thanks for the info. I’m not really interested in Alcatraz myself, but my husband is the one who wants to see it. Not sure when daylight savings time is this year, but I’m guessing by 6 it’ll be near sunset.

Daylight savings time is March 8. Quick Google search shows sunset in San Francisco on April 15 (you don't specify a date in April) is 7:46, and generally it will be light close to 30 minutes after that.

Thanks. I let him know and he's fine with it. He was interested in that time tour because then we can do other things during the day and he can still go there too. Yeah, I live in Southern Ca and am in denial of daylight savings time coming soon because I absolutely HATE the springtime one. You end up jetlagged and tired for weeks!!!
