New NCL cancellation policy 3/6/2020

I am in the same boat as Ninihix. Except I was contacted by my travel agent on March 12th, saying the 100% FCC was a great offer, the best it will get; and I should go ahead and cancel. Which I did. Then on March 13th the sailing was cancelled and the 125% FCC or refund option became available. My agent said she expressed to NCL how this was unfair, and I needed to contact them directly. Out of the agents hair at that point. If the sailing is cancelled, all people who were booked should have the same options. This is complete nonsense. And I wonder if the reps from NCL reached out to the agents to offer cancellations knowing the sailings were gonna be cancelled and refunds would have to be honored. Feeling completely tricked into taking the subpar offer.

I have a question, what would happen to our refunds if NCL were to file for bankruptcy? Would we still get our refunds? I was scheduled to be on the Bliss 3/22/20 and had 9 cabins booked. I called to check on the status of my refund and was told there is no "order" in which they process the refunds. A friend was booked on a RCCL cruise leaving on 3/29/20 and she received her refund yesterday. Just seems strange that it would take them so long to process refunds.

I completely understand your concern because we had a May 25th cruise on the Jewel booked. We only had three cabins but anything at this point is a chunk of money and would obviously be better in our pockets than theirs especially during The time where people aren't working and so forth. I had some issues recently with Norwegian not being very transparent and being told one thing and then I would call back and somebody would tell me something completely different.

However I called the other day and spoke with a wonderful person and he was very honest, at least as far as I could tell. He said as of now Norwegian has canceled cruises up through May 15th. If the cruise is during that time. You can fill out the paperwork that's on the website if you want a cash refund. Otherwise you can take the 125% cruise credit. I asked how long it took for the refund because I'm hearing at least 90 days and he said the quicker you get the paperwork in the quicker you will get a refund,  But it could still be 90 days.

On another note I contacted my credit card company that I used to pay the cruise off with and they said they would back me up if for some reason the company promised a refund and did not fulfill that but I needed to wait for the 90 days. Best of luck. We're all in the same boat. No pun intended

Just wondering.....has anyone received their money back for a cancelled cruise yet?

I've received refunds for cruises that I cancelled. Granted, it was only the $50 deposit. But I received it within a week or 2.

We opted for FCC but found out after the fact from our TA that NCL is the only cruise line NOT REFUNDING PREPAID items back to original form of payment. Instead they are issuing it in FCC. Grateful for extra FCC but disappointed NCL didn’t refund us our Spa and Excursions back to our credit card.

This is what happened to me. I cancelled on Thursday March 12, my cruise for Bliss 3/15 out of NYC. Adding insult to injury it was a free cruise out of myvegas/casino comp. My admin fees, taxes & port fees, one excursion, tips on drink package, regular gratuities, near $1500 for a free cruise. Well my only choice when I called was rebook out of NYC in August (or later in 2020). I chose August before hurricane was in full swing and cold weather in NYC. This would have been my first cruise with NCL, and if I go, it's probably going to be my last. I have a major trust issue now.

Updated May 20, 2020    Your safety is our #1 priority—both on and off our ships. Due to the current global environment, we are extending the suspension of all sailings across our fleet through July 31, 2020.

On March 11th, (2 days  before the poop hit the fan) my TA accidently charged the wrong (Celebrity) credit card for our final payment for our July cruise. I notified her immediately about the charge error. She contacted NCL and they immediately put the charge (Close to $7000) on our NCL card. It took them 87 days to reverse the charge on the wrong card....and actually, I think it was the claim I made with my card company that went thru as a temporary reverse, that would be permanent unless contested by NCL, that made the reverse finally happen. I think it had nothing to do with NCL's processing! . 87 days to have an extra $7,000 balance. My credit score sank 41 points!

I am just grateful that I finally got the amount reversed!
