Canada Line Luggage Question

Thinking of taking the Canada Line from Vancouver Airport to downtown (station closest to the Marriott on Hastings --- Waterfront Station ????).  My question is for those that have used the Canada Line --- how many pieces of luggage have you brought on board?  We will probably have two 27 inch suitcases.  Thanks in advance for replies.

Not a problem.  The trains/platforms are very very level and with a tiny (2cm) gap and there's lots of room on board for luggage

Thank you.  Since we will be staying at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle on Hastings, is the Waterfront station the one we need?  Also, when we depart the train, is there an escalator we can drag the luggage on or do we have to lug it up the stairs?

No worry about the stairs, all stations have both escalators and elevators.

 

Now, here's the part that will save you some walking.  When you get off at Waterfront station, don't follow people down the tunnel into the station complex, but turn around (to the direction the train entered the station), and use the exit marked "WAY OUT- GRANVILLE ST".  That will exit you at the corner of Granville & West Hastings (the street your hotel is on).  From there, an east 4 block walk.

That should say "easy 4 block".  You're actually head Northwest on W.Hastings.

Scottbee, it sounds like you know your stuff.  We're staying at Hotel Belmont, 654 Nelson street...what's your travel advice from airport?

Since Scott hasn't been posting for a few days - and who can blame him under the current circumstances - my two cents: if you're mobile and a solo/couple, SkyTrain from YVR is worth the savings. 3 or 4 of you though and cab fare becomes only fractionally more expensive (fixed rate of CAD$32) - indeed, potentially cheaper if you arrive on a weekday before 6:30pm as the fare per person will be $9.25 for Adults, possibly a little more if the fares go up again July 1st.

 

So unless you're shaving your budget to the bone the convenience of door-to-door service, a cab may be well worth the spend to skip the walk from the nearest station (Vancouver City Centre - about 500 metres straight along Granville Street to this hotel, so call it a half-mile total extra walking by the time you get to and from the platforms).

 

Either way there's certainly no need to book anything, cabs operate on a walk-up basis and SkyTrain is public transit so no resos required, so you can leave it to arrival day and see how energetic you're feeling after your flight.
