Status of Grand Turk Cruise Port

Hello All,

 

We're scheduled to arrive in Grand Turk in 2 weeks on Regal Princess and I've seen some conflicting information regarding the recent ships that were re-routed away to other ports. Some people are adamant it was a Carnival decision to re-route several ships to Nassau after an incident involving two sick people on a single ship and uncertainty on whether future passengers would be able to disembark, while others are saying that the Grand Turk port turned them away. Does anyone have any solid information? We have never been to Grand Turk and are really looking forward to visiting Jack's Shack.

It is the decision of the port/government. At a March 2, 2020, meeting the National security Council for TCI updated the need for cruise ships to report ill passengers to include the decision to deny any docking of any cruise ship if suspected case (s) of COVID-19 is/are on board.

In short, no one sick with flu etc., you dock; anyone sick, you don't dock.

Based on the report, "Infected country means China, Iran, South Korea, Italy, Singapore, Macau, Japan and any other country which the Governor declares from time to time, by notice published in the Gazette, as a country where there is known or thought to be sustained human-to-human transmission of Covid-19, or from which the CDC reports there is a high risk of importation of infection or contamination (with Covid-19) via travel from that country to the Islands;"

 

For cruise ship passengers it's a bit different: "No cruise ship shall be permitted to enter the Islands, where that cruise ship is carrying a passenger who has travelled to, from or through an infected country within a period of twenty-one days or less immediately preceding the intended arrival in the Islands."
