American Airlines Refund

I called AA this morning asking for a refund for my cruise airline tickets to Italy that I had booked in Prem Econ flying the end of April.  I had seen on TV and online that as of today AA was refunding all travel to Italy in March and April.  AA Women said that my refund was done and going to the refund department and I would see the refund on my cc within 7 to 10 days.  I then confirmed with her that my refund was approved and the refund dept would take care of this with no fees?  She said yes.  I then received an email from AA saying "Your trip is canceled. Your refund will be processed automatically if you booked at least 2 days before departure  and canceled within 24 hours of buying your ticket (I booked this ticket June 2019).

Now I'm unsure whether I"m getting a refund like I was told.  Or is this just the standard email they send?  Yes, I have a call into AA with a call back request. Thanks so much for any advice you may have on this.

Probably just an automated message that goes out to everyone. You can also reach out to them on social media, that's how I usually get a hold of AA and their social media team is pretty good...though they're also probably pretty swamped right now.
