Pompein,  sorry have not had that issue.  AMA cancelled our May 11 cruise;  we opted to take 115% credit and will book a river cruise for 2021.

Anybody have any experience with their future cruise booking?

We cruised last July. Purchased the future cruise booking benefit (deposit plus 5% off). Booked a cruise for Oct 2020.

So my TA says if we cancel, we lose $200 each deposit. If we rebook, they will transfer funds to new cruise, but the price may be higher.

Either way it sounds like we lose the FCC. I'm not happy about this. We should be able to reuse it on a future cruise.

Anyone have this situation?

It's probably much to early for the lines to start cancelling for October, as they are still hoping to be on the rivers sometime in July.  I would assume that if you were to cancel that far in advance, they would treat it as any normal cancellation, whereas if they have to cancel it in Aug or Sept, then things could be different.  It's a waiting game, and depends on how long you wish to wait them out.

Daisi;  my May trip cancelled;  we had AMA put our money into our account plus the deposit.  So if you tell them you are going to book next year;  your deposit should not be lost

AMA has all our money so we are rolling the dice and took the 115% credit.  We will most likely book for May 2021.  We shall see what happens in the next few months.

We received our 65% credit plus 35% cruise credit this week after AMA cancelled our cruise.  Some other people who were booked by our travel agent also received a credit for the travel waiver plus they purchased.  I'm wondering how many of you were reimbursed for this?

Ama update, obviously our 7/20 was cancelled and we were offered FCC. My TA called me 10 minutes ago ans was offered my $800 deposit and $1100 in insurance will be refunded in 3-4 weeks. We decided to forgo the 115% FCC due to all the uncertainty. Now we have to wait for our paid in full flights on Swiss Air. At this point they are only offering credit through 4/21. We think it is a cheap offer. We'll wait them out.

Good luck coevan;  hope you don't have too many issues with Swiss Air.  Right now I have money tied up with AMA, Princess, and Delta.   We have FCC and E-credit with all these companies.

I received a refund this week for the travel waiver plus I purchased for a June 8th cruise that was cancelled.

I have a cruise in the AMA Dara April 2021 to a Vietnam and Cambodia. I want to cancel and get my full deposit back. Can anyone guide me on this?  I don’t believe that Vietnam and Cambodia will be accepting cruises early next year.

If you cancel now, you will be bound by the T&C when you booked your cruise [which probably has a penalty].  If you wait until they cancel the cruise, you should be able to get 100% of your money back.

AMAWaterways is refusing to return my money for the cancelled Charms of the Mekong, March 16, 2020. I have asked them 4 times in writing to return my money. AMAWaterways cancelled my cruise, they keep suspending future cruises (now until October 31, 2020), and will no doubt continue to suspend all cruises for months or years. There will be no cruising for me until there is a COVID19 vaccine. My deposits were close to $10,000. AMAWaterways has delivered nothing in return, except a worthless, “Future Cruise Credit.” AMAWaterways must think their customers are suckers and losers. Let’s call this “Policy” for what it is: AMAWaterways is stealing my money.

Teejay6, I am so sorry. It's inconceivable to me that they're treating customers like this. I am now SO leery about booking anything with them again in the future ... and we "only" have a small, onboard future cruise deposit currently with them.

I hope your post here helps you get a successful resolution.

I too lost my deposit for a cruise this summer. I luckily didn’t make the final payment so my loss was only the $800. I wrote to them several times, I wrote to them using the email address they have provided on this forum and got no reply.  I was noticing that cruises were routinely being cancelled after the final payments were made and resulted only in Future Cruise Credits. Some cancellations were offered 115% credits but as many have stated, who knows if they will even be in business to honour those credits.  Who knows if the future cruise costs are even covered by 115% if they jack their prices by say 20%. I read on another cruise blog where the owner of this family-owned company bragged that he had no financial worries as he claimed all his ships were paid for and as his engineers and professional staff were from Switzerland and that Switzerland had some sort of compensation program for its citizens for lost wages during COVID 19 and as a result his company was not at risk financially. If this is all true, then why are they not refunding cruise fares? I had to cancel significant travel arrangements where companies were understanding and compassionate realizing that there will be future business and that they want me to return. AMAWATERWAYS was the absolute worst company to deal with demonstrating no loyalty to past customers by not making it inviting for them to return.  I had travelled with them several times over the years and was very happy with them. I am disappointed and disgusted with their attitude during this difficult and unusual time. I will never book with them again.

We have our 4th cruise booked with AMA for October 2021.  We only have invested so far a deposit of $800.  We will wait and see before paying anything else.  Sounds like if you final pay, only FCC are given.  Doesn't sound like a company we want to do business with in the future if that's the case.  Too bad as we had no complaints with our prior cruise and they truly went out of there way to accommodate our every request.  We will wait and see.  AMA are you listening to your customers???

I'm confused by your comment.  You say Ama cancelled your cruise and you are out $800;  why did you not get your money back or a future cruise credit?
