That doesn't sound right, when I rescheduled mine, she created the booking, refunded ALL of those fees, and told me to call when I receive it, to have it applied. She told me my fcc would take care of the whole balance. The next person that calls for this, please see if you can get another answer. My FCC includes all of those things mentioned not covered.

It didn't make sense to me either, but as mentioned she followed up with a Supervisor who confirmed that is indeed true.   However if someone else can ask their agent about this.    Really, to me that was the only red flag of this whole thing as I didn't think that was right.

To me too ... and I was looking at cruises and adding up the taxes that you were told would not be covered and I was just going to forget it and wait for a year or so and go on something I really want since the cost keeps adding up for a free cruise that is not ideal, but i would do it if i didn't have to fork out so much more right now.  I have a trip to Las Vegas in August (for now) so I would be working around that too.  If this was a booking window allowed a little further out that would have made a difference too.

I don't recall a time when I have worked backwards playing so much with dates and numbers and considering the cruise itself last just to use 'free' money LOL ... locked in flight money, locked in FCC, locked in time frames ... ugh.

That doesn't even come close to making us whole. When my credit comes in. There's going to be some serious fighting if this is true. All of us should have been told that. This FCC is based on our cash/credit card purchases, not free stuff.

Okay ... just off the phone with CAS.  This is what she told me....much of what aligns with others and some additional detail and also some clarification (hopefully correct :))

Booking Timeline:  7 days from cruise cancellation

New Sail deadline:  Sept 30, 2020

New Cruise Selection:  Any 6 to 9 day
New Cruise Departure Port:  Any US port EXCEPT Alaska, Also a sailing from Athens on Spirit.

Use of FCC:  Total can be used against the booking ... she said she did not hear of any restriction ... none.

I called mostly for the FCC clarification so i focused on that a lot and she said the only thing would be if the cruise was more you would have to pay that if more than FCC ... which of course that would be expected.

So unless none of them know anything (she seemed pretty matter of fact and did not need to talk to a supervisor), the FCC can be fully applied to the new booking when it arrives and the only certain cost is the deposit which is an immediate cost.

That's good news. So I'll only have to turn in my FCC and question my missing $300. I can deal with that. Even that isn't a dealbreaker since my new cruise is 7 days to Bermuda.

Agreed, much different picture.  My challenge now is if I want to book something in July or perhaps even September. I question if things will be any better by then ... things are getting tense around my home town now as they are making a lot of closure decisions.  Any travel I do outside country now I have to self quarantine, no issue as I can work from home. They also announced any cruise ships with more than 500 people cannot dock in Canada until July 1.

I chose August just before hurricane season goes in full swing. Not that it would scare me, but I don't want to go through this anticipation garbage again. August is going to be hot down there, so I can lighten the luggage a bit.

Well now with the cancellations Im guessing those that didnt cancel and rebook their MyVegas cruise already are back to square one as to what is going to happen. Supposedly everyone is supposed to receive an e-mail regarding cancelling. Would be nice if the e-mail explains everything we need to know before calling.

I'm booked through MyVeas too. They are offering regular passengers 125% FCC until 12/2021 or 100% refund. Wonder if this will apply to us now too? My cruise was originally for a 5 day inside, I would love to go longer and use the fcc to get a balcony. I'm planning on calling Monday.

I sailed a back to back last July/August.  Hot hot hot and while I like the heat I said never again but I often eat my words LOL.  Other than the heat it was a great trip and no weather issues as I recall hit cruises late August or maybe it was September.  September I think might be the riskier month in the Caribbean.

Yes it  would be ideal to get timely info but with the speed of how things are coming at them I don't think they can keep up with decisions let alone how to communicate them.  I think they are making decisions in hindsight after something comes to light, same as every other industry lately.  Interestingly sad times.

And I guess those that DID cancel are SOL and stuck with FCC locked in.  I was to sail this Sunday so was basically forced to decide ... I literally would have been at the airport today about to fly any minute to the port and I may not have learned of this before I left an ended up stuck on my way ...totally not right.  I think they should back date this in some way to consider those that chose to protect themselves from this very event!  I believe Princess did that, they backdated a month I think to cover cancellations in that recent window.

My question is, I had a land based casino offer comped cruise supposed to sail March 12th.  If I took the FCC, could I then apply that to another comped cruise I have already booked sailing on June 12?  All the payments associated with the June cruise have been paid, of course, but if I could use the FCC on an upgrade, that would be great.  Otherwise, I think I'm just taking the cash, as I can never get back to the cabin type/perks that I would have had on the March cruise by just transferring the certificate and using the FCC for associated taxes and fees.

I've done August in the past. It's gonna be hot for sure, but Sept can be just as bad. Maybe I'll buy a 3rd swimsuit, lol.

I am so confused here maybe someone can shed some light on this. I booked directly thru CAS took the room they gave me and then upgraded to the haven. (I did not have a land based casino cert)  So If I want the FCC I am assuming the admin fee, casino upgrade fee, and gov tax/port fees are put in that FCC that is now 125%.  I am looking at my confirmation guest copy for the cruise that was to be march 29th and now canceled. I prepaid the DSC and Bev sev charge so does that get included in the FCC as well? Now we purchased a 3 dining plan and a water pkg as well. where does that go since that falls under amenities?

The other thing is that there are 4 of us on the reservation. The 3rd and 4th bought the dining.  thanks

Yes, everything that you paid besides the insurance - all these will be in FCC.

The following will be applied to the FCC:

  • Cruise fare and taxes
    • Including any winning Upgrade Advantage payments.
  • Flight arrangements booked through Norwegian Cruise Line.
  • Hotel and CruiseTour packages purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line.
  • Shore Excursions booked and pre-paid through Norwegian Cruise Line
  • Prepaid service charges
  • Beverage or Dining gratuities (if part of FAS Promotion selection)
  • Essentials Travel Protection

What is not included in the future cruise credit (FCC) or refund?

The following will not be applied to the FCC or refund:

  • Booksafe Platinum or Standard Travel Protection
  • Special Promotional Onboard Credits (OBC)

Oh someone beat me on this above and even better clearer answer.  I will add that the FCC will be specific to each guest for each purchase fee etc that applies to them so there would be 4 FCC in your case..

That definitely SUCKS... but that was pretty clear.  With suspended sailing perhaps this will change but given the 7 day window for those of us that already cancelled it won't matter.

However, mine was a MyVegas reward and it sounded like there are different offers depending on the type of CAS comped offer so if yours wasn't MyVegas then yours is likely different.

She even came back after checking and said 'oh this one is straight forward'.

Where did you find this detail? Is this from the March 10th implemented 'Peace of Mind'?  I can't seem to find any such detail on the current March 13th 'options' for cancelled cruises and wondered if there might be any difference at all in this breakdown between the two. I did see the one for 'Peace of Mind'.

It is in 2 places. Yes, one of the places is in the Peace of Mindy Policy and then the 2nd one is under there FAQ section.

For March 13th letter - I do not know if it will be the same.
