just emailed my TA and she was to cruise on the EDGE sunday. Cancelled and all Celebrity cruises are cancelled for the next 30 days. Canada has closed ALL ports to cruise ships.

Wow Princess puts them to shame. Celebrities compensation is pretty terrible - especially considering how last minute it is for a lot of folks.

"For impacted sailings, compensation of 125% Future Cruise Credit will be processed automatically. It is not necessary to call unless you’d like a 100% refund".

 

If you do not take action (and thereby implicitly accepting 125% FCC) what happens to the paid port fees / taxes? Or, rephrased, you get 125% FCC over... what exactly? Total cruise price? Or the cruise-only price?

Yeah, we are booked for that TA, and it’s a pain to still be wondering and waiting....we miss the cut off by five days, I think.  I think we will continue to wait and see what 30 days brings.

 

It is so hard to imagine, isn’t it, what life will be like in 30 days.  Every 24 hours that baseball bat swings around and clubs us all with new bad juju!  When this started I thought no way this could go a whole month and not improve....but that was about three weeks ago and we are living on a radically changed planet now, and now my thinking is in line with cruiserchuck.  
 

I am so pained for all the people who set out the last few days with high hopes to drive or fly to a port a day or two early only to be met with a cancelled cruise.

No Asia, Europe cruise for 30 days

i do agree they should have put on the press release that it covered all their lines as many don’t know the difference between the cruise line and the corporation.

Saving a couple of hours on your trip to Florida is peanuts compared to all of the confusion that was created by a poorly written, incomplete press release. This was obviously a rush job to coincide with the President’s press conference.   The fact that they didn’t already have a mock press release already written with TBD inserted in the time, dates, compensation etc. was poor crisis management and planning on the part of RCL. They have known for days that this was a distinct possibility.

Update. We are in PR for cruise tomorrow. When we called Celebrity because we heard rumors the told us they have no details and we had to show up at the port tomorrow for assistance with hotel and travel. 
 

still no text, call or email from celebrity.

What a disappointment. As my name says. This is our first cruise for a 20 year anniversary. We are doing refund and won’t be sailing Celebrity again. 

Embarrassing  that an Elite line offers crap 2 weeks before my sailing. 
 

I get canceling it. How are so many others offering a better deal.

You do realize that the President is involved in this? This just came down today. When it boils down to it, this was not the cruise lines decision. It certainly is disappointing to have this happen but over the last week things have been changing by the hour.
 

“At my request, effective midnight tonight, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and MSC have all agreed to suspend outbound cruises for thirty days. It is a great and important industry – it will be kept that way!”

Our sailing is gone. Our next job is getting our mega dollar business class flights refunded. Don't hold out much hope

And as I am completely blind to US politics pretty much, I'd say the inaction by these cruiselines when others had cancelled, has led to the President making this demand. You can't call for a National Emergency through Pandemic in your country then have cruises departing your country impacting thousands of travellers and resident in those ports

Celebrity is offering the same  refund or 125% FCC as Oceania, Regent and NCL. Some may be offering some less these are the only ones that concerned our family.

I only know one major cruise line. Princess who had three ships make the news. Other cruise lines slowly started making calls yesterday. No other U.S based lines made the call until today. Carnival hasn’t even sent a press release out yet. They’re scrambling now to get it out. I’m affected also. Currently have three cruises booked over the next sixty days but I will deal with the disappointment like an adult.
