sue1898 Posted March 16, 2020 #10 Share Posted March 16, 2020 From HAL’s Facebook page: UPDATE (3 p.m. PT/6 p.m.ET): Despite a positive outlook for disembarking Zaandam guests today at Punta Arenas, Chile, we were not allowed to do so by local authorities. Therefore, the ship departed the port this evening and is now en route to San Antonio, Chile, for a service call to take on fuel and other provisions. Our Seattle headquarters and the ship are working with several governments and embassies on options for where to disembark guests. We know guests and their families are awaiting answers, and we will communicate them as soon as arrangements are made. This continues to be a very fluid situation that is beyond our control, and we are deeply sorry for all that our guests have gone through in an effort to safely return home. We will continue to communicate with guests on board how they can submit for reimbursable expenses. The ship’s internet and phone lines remain open so that guests may contact their loved ones with an update. This is an unprecedented situation and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
