Rare Lois R Posted April 16 #8826 Share Posted April 16 Melody, so, so sorry this happened to Les again! Hope they can fix this correctly! Cynthia, wishing you a great cruise. My plans all changed yesterday. I was supposed to be taking a TA crossing in Dec but after all that I have been dealing with I just really don't feel like the flight overseas. Maybe I will feel differently in a few months but I just know I have to spend my $ on what I feel is best for me. Plus, this was a new ship and it is the sister ship of the one I sailed back in November and I wasn't really happy with that vessel........deck plans, etc..... I found a 2 week Caribbean cruise for Dec instead on the MOON, which is a ship I LOVE😀 Ft, Lauderdale to Bridgetown.....15 nights🙂 Today is the first time I am volunteering in more than 2,5 weeks!
awhfy Posted April 16 #8827 Share Posted April 16 Lois, the eye wasn’t done incorrectly the first time, we knew it was a possibility due to the severity of the detachment. Lousy way to spend his bday tho. Melody
slidergirl Posted April 16 Author #8828 Share Posted April 16 Melody - my heart goes out to Les. He's had a rough go of it lately. Give him a birthday kiss. Cynthia and Lois - both of you sound like you've found some nice little cruises. My hamster wheel of vacation thoughts is temporarily stopped. After my couple of days in Las Vegas, I'm going to try to just hang at home or do a little camping. Save up for next year. Maybe play a little craps to see if I can win a trip or at least put a quarter in a slot machine 😉 OOTD: jeans and a Tshirt and my cammo fleece jacket. I might wear my new white & gold & silver Merrell trail runners. A little flashy but I couldn't resist at my 50% off birthday card from Sweaty Betty! Back to warm (low 50s) and sunny today. Only 3 more days of work left. Yay!
WELDON Posted April 16 #8829 Share Posted April 16 Melody - Sorry to hear about this setback for Les. Hope he does well tomorrow. Lois - I can understand how you feel about taking a long flight. I was supposed to go to Alaska next month but changed the cruise to Bermuda. I see the cardiologist Friday to get the results of the Holter monitor. Kat - Cool looking sneakers.

Rare PurpleHays Posted April 16 #8832 Share Posted April 16 We are back from our cruise. We had pretty good weather, but crossing the Channel was pretty rocky. Dave and I both felt it. We went outside our comfort zones in Bilbao and Bordeaux and went somewhat on our own. Kind of scary since we were guideless and didn't speak either language. Food was excellent in both countries. D-Day sites (especially Utah Beach and the American Cemetery) were emotional. Neither of us had family members die in WWII, but his dad was a WWII vet. I can't imagine how it would feel to someone who lost a family member there. And, amazingly, both of us lost a couple of pounds. I guess we didn't cruise correctly? 😆

MrToblerone Posted April 17 #8834 Share Posted April 17 I hope I loose weight on my cruise in June ! I usually stay the same as I am conscious of trying not to gain weight and try not to overeat and do more walking in the ports
Rare Lois R Posted April 17 #8835 Share Posted April 17 Hi PH, welcome home🙂 I had my stents removed today. The Dr sent out some of the particles from the stones to lab to see what the actual make up of them was........he said sometimes it can take 2 to 3 weeks to get the results back. He could not give me an answer on why I have had recurring stones. They can send a person to the moon but medical answers are still not always available😮

Good luck with PT and we are all thinking about you.
slidergirl Posted April 18 Author #8838 Share Posted April 18 Melody - sounds good to be finished with the replacement. That was a long day, indeed. I wish I could offer a recommendation on what to wear - I can't remember what I wore. The only thing I can think of is to put on one of Les' button-down shirts and just forget it. I've seen "shoulder surgery" shirts online but I don't know if they'd be any better than the button-down. Good luck with the PT! Lois - hoping these are the last stones you have! A friend showed me hers - I can't just fathom how something so small causes so much pain. No more issues!!! I think I'm going town the mountain today. I need to go to Sephora and get another brow pencil and more bronzer powder. But, I could just wait until I get to Las Vegas and pick it up there, too. I'm just being a lazy bum. Two more days of work left!! Did all my laundry yesterday and now just have to decide what I want to take to wear in LV. It's going to be sunny & hot (low 90s). Shorts, Tshirts, sunshirt and one nice outfit for my bucket list birthday dinner. OOTD: jeans and a long-sleeve Tshirt. Upper 40s here in town, mid-50s down the mountain.

Rare Lois R Posted April 19 #8840 Share Posted April 19 Good morning, so yesterday I had a follow up appt with the Kidney Dr. This now seems to be a recurring thing😧....I go to the lab for bloodwork and then go see her about all my results. Usually we are looking to see that my creatine number is ok. And it is BUT now for some reason, there seems to be a small amount of protein in my urine. Now, I am learning about all of this on the fly...having protein in it is not supposed to be a good thing☹️. She did say she is going to give it some time since I just went through all the stuff.......hospital visit, outpatient procedure, the stents, etc...etc...etc... and oh by the way, I was on 3 different antibiotics so that puts a strain on the system too😧 I feel like my system is falling about....but I am not in any pain (a good thing of course) but seems my kidneys are just a big PITA..........lets hope the protein thing clears up. I go see the Dr again after I get back from my cruise.

WELDON Posted April 19 #8842 Share Posted April 19 This week I had a couple of doctor appts. On Tuesday I had a follow up with the podiatrist for the capsulitis. It is better but not completely gone. The doctor made a couple of straps for that toe that are removable. I don't need to wear the strap all the time. Today I saw the cardiologist. The results from the holter monitor were good and I also asked about all the tests done in the hospital. He told me everything looked good. I don't need to see him for 3 months. Melody - Hope your recovery and PT go smoothly. Lois - As your MD told you, maybe your system needs to adjust after all you've gone through and everything clears up on its own.
Rare Lois R Posted April 19 #8843 Share Posted April 19 Hi Janet, glad your heart is ok🙂 Oh, the Dr wants me to start taking vitamin D. At least it is little in size! A small gelatin style pill.
WELDON Posted April 20 #8844 Share Posted April 20 I've been taking vitamin D3 for years. They are easy to take because they are small and soft.
slidergirl Posted April 20 Author #8845 Share Posted April 20 Wow. we're all a mess, aren't we??? kidneys, protein, heart, shoulder, eyes, flu... What did we do to deserve all this? We need some major healing vibes sent down from above! I desperately want to get rid of the hideous cough that the flu brought back. I'm drinking water like a camel to try to dissolve all the mucus. I mean, it too me years to get rid of the long covid cough and now the cough is back... Last day of work!!!! All I have to do today is put on a little wine & cheese time for our newest owner. He just closed on the condo a week ago. Waiting patiently to fly out to Las Vegas tomorrow! I'll be sure to post some food porn. OOTD: my black onsie.

We walked in and I told the host "we're American tourists that don't speak a word of French, but we'd like a meal. Can you help us?" He laughed at me and we ate a danged good meal. The menu was an initial challenge-it was in French, duh-but there was a QR code to scan for several foreign languages. We stopped at the store recommended by our guide to get some wine on the way back to the bus. On 4/18/2024 at 11:19 AM, awhfy said: Home from shoulder replacement yesterday. I took the injured arm off first. I wore bra and shirt for two days too, showering ever second day. Hair washing was the worst, especially since mine is long.

I’ve got a couple of waffle weave shirts that are working great. Much easier now that the painball catheter is gone. Now I can slide into a shirt. It’s my dominant right arm. Destroyed my biceps tendon too. Pt at home yesterday was interesting. She was surprised at my range of motion.

We don't use pain balls at our out surgery center-we use nerve blocks, and lots with Exparel. It's a long acting medication. It can last up to 96 hours. Keep up the PT-it's your best bet right now.

I had the lovely nerve block & pain ball because I’m allergic to so many pain meds. I’ve had 4 Tylenol & and Phenergen (nausea) since surgery last Weds. so far this is much less pain than a rotator cuff. Pt & ice are my friends

Keep healing well!
