Rare PasadenaDave Posted September 11, 2022 #1851 Share Posted September 11, 2022 HAL is a step up from Princess and the food is top notch, but I am continually comparing it to Viking, which isn’t fair but can’t be helped. We choose cruises based on destination and will do Viking on the Nile next April, but like Andy, I have to wonder if we will stray from Viking in the future. They are truly on top. I also have to mention that we don’t like casinos, crowds, photographers and all sorts of motorized scooters everywhere. Waiting 25 minutes for a shuttle is also a bore. We walked by people waiting for the shuttle back to the dock and we arrived first and we were just ambling along.

We survived the Holidays on HAL with the family.😱 Just take a few important steps. Avoid any thoughts of using the pool or going to the ice cream cafe. You will be swarmed with the children onboard. Hide instead in the Martini Bar. The Pinnacle Grill is good food and a reasonable uncharge. Most folks don't waste that on kids. Keep your drinks level topped up and spend quality time on your balcony and you will be just fine....🍸 Jim - You make MV Rug Rat dam sound soooo appealing!!!😁
Rare PasadenaDave Posted September 11, 2022 #1853 Share Posted September 11, 2022 Don’t get me started with trying to phone them, I never got through and I am now on hold with guest services concerning a toilet issue. There is no service in customer or guest services

If I am being honest, the family obligations were more annoying than the kiddos. But then the bit about the pools, etc. is the real truth....

My husband harvested some basil and I made pesto and pasta and told him his basil was redolent. I know, so old… but I love words. Hope you and family are well vslparis! Thanks , we are doing well. Back on the road after the unfortunate and regrettable accident on our World Horizon trip in January. We leave on Friday for 7 weeks in Europe and just rebooked the World Hoizon trip for January 2024 😀. He may not be able to lift his carry on into the overhead bin yet, but he can pull it along until we get on board 😂

I, too, have trouble lifting the carry on into the overhead bin, but, keep on truckin!

People are surprised at how much there is to see right there in Greenwich. The Greenwich Market as just one place we enjoy spending time exploring. The Royal Observatory has a window filled octagonal room designed by Christopher Wren that allowed Newton to move his telescope in all directions to do his observations. You can also stand on the Prime Meridian, view the official world time, and see how it passes through the dome of the telescope which is the basis of the observations that created it. The most important historical clocks in the world are on display there, the John Harrison clocks that are associated with the Longitudinal Prize. The National Maritime Museum is also a gem. I could spend hours there. Edited September 13, 2022 by OneSixtyToOne
