Americans, how long until you received your refund?

Called yesterday since it had been 84 calendar days (60 business days) since submitting refund request on 16 March. I got through fairly fast, but the lady had to transfer me to the casino department for one cruise.  Once transferred they told me the refund was processed on 25 May (2 weeks ago).  I told her that I had not seen it and we verified the correct Visa card was used.  She said she would send something to the accounting department but who knows.  Back to the first lady, the other refund (requested on 31 March) was being processed and she said it should be out this week.

Again, I'll believe them once I see the refund back on my credit card.  Until then no new bookings on MSC

That’s the same date we were told our Casino refund was issued and we have not received ours either. I called back as soon as they opened and was promised a call back as they would reach out to accounting, but that never happened.

Americans, and princess passengers specifically (according to the threads on this forum) have received their refunds in 30-45 days. There were some ridiculous cases when they couldn't manage and still have not received the refund but I rather blame it on some technical issue with the system rather than companies not willing to issue the refund in general. So yeah, I think for the US  citizens it went just alright

Princess refunding in 30-45 days. I’m sorry but that’s a joke. We cancelled in March and have been told it’s going to be another 2 months before we are likely to get our money from Princess. Needless to say we have filed a cc dispute after the latest update.

they are the only cruise line that is actually making MSC not look like the worst I am dealing with, and we have had 6 cruises cancelled so far with 4 different cruiselines.

Refund received today after TA calling MSC Monday and it being "escalated"...cancelled beginning of April for May 23 sailing.

And our refund was escalated 10 days ago for a sailing in April.

Glad you got your refund but this is ridiculous.

What’s even more annoying is I wanted to rebook. Was told my deposit would be issued as fcc. Had this been done I wouldn’t have a problem, but no they then said (after 2 months of phone calls) that I couldn’t have an fcc and I had to wait for my refund. At the beginning I was told delay was because FCC’s being processed in Italy and they were in lockdown.

You would think refunds funds would be simpler, there again it took my daughters school almost 8 weeks to refund her Senior prom ticket🙄

This is was the first of 6 cruises I had booked that have been cancelled. I have 3 cancelled cruises fully resolved.

The only good good thing is with the delay and the change in ports/itineraries for next year I’m not trying to fix a booking that had been changed again.

Just updating. I called for a refund in March the day the cruise was cancelled and have been calling every once in a while to get an update on the refund. Just called today and after the person looked into it, I got an email saying that I should get the refund in 60 days. Since there's no way I'm waiting another 2 months on top of the 3 months I already waited for, I called again and they said it was in processing.

I'll give it another 2 weeks and if there's nothing, I'll file a chargeback. On the bright side, I got my globus refund and am now just waiting on msc and ryanair.  Fastest refunds (for the family) have been Alitalia, KLM and Oceania.

Good to hear some positive reports. A) I called MSC again today as last week I was told my request for a cancelled October cruise “went to escalation” and I have still heard nothing. B) Also my taxes, etc. from two March cruises have not been refunded yet, last week I was told these cases had moved to Accounting, have still not seen anything, now those cases have also “gone to escalation.” Such drama - what can we do but keep checking credit card from day to day!

Still waiting. So far “escalation” has not worked for me. Monday agent suggested I would see something in two or three days. Today, five days later, the agent suggested I would see something at 5pm. My saga continues.

On a happy note, I just received our first refund on our 7 cancelled cruises for 2020.  Cancelled on 3/30 for a 5/23 cruise.  Have asked for $ refunded and not FCC's.  So maybe there is hope for the rest.  Thank you MSC for a glimmer of hope.

Today will be 60 days from when I canceled my Oct sailing.  I called MSC (no wait) and a comment was made about how it wasn't put in correctly.  I was placed on hold so she could talk to a supervisor.  She provided me a service request number and said it has been escalated.  I should call back if I haven't received it by end of month.  My friend who canceled same day on same cruise received his deposit back on his CC on June 08, so about 48 days.

I had an April sailing canceled in March, still waiting... so frustrating.

What date was embarkation supposed to be in April?  That may help to know if it has been 60 days.

Have 3 refunds that have been “escalated” for two weeks now. Called Friday and was told something should show by 5pm that day or call back Monday.  Well nothing by 5pm Friday so will see what Tuesday call (just didn’t have energy to call today) brings.

As posted, we were told refunds and FCC would be in 60 days.  Only date on email was date of email from March.

There was no other dates to reference but apparently MSC using some type of Unicorn calendar to refund in 60 days.

I certainly hope that sailing date has nothing to do with refund times! I canceled my 8/29/2020 cruise on 4/15/202 - prior to final payment being due. I will be super-angry if they plan on holding my $4K+ until 90 days after my original cruise date!

No light at end of tunnel for me yet - made another call - same story - behind, will show up, past 60 days, might take another month, not too much longer - I need to resist calling - just frustrates me.

1) March 14 requested FCC for March 29 cruise - no tax/fee refund yet

2) April 3 requested normal cancellation of October Med Cruise - no refund yet

I don’t think it applies to your situation.  Our cruises were cancelled by MSC.  Our email states that the refund will be processed in 60 days after cancellation.  However, on the website it states it will be processed within 60 days of sailing date.  So, we are waiting to see.  I did receive a $98 refund for another cancelled cruise, which I had cancelled prior to final payment.  That refund was due “by 7/4“  and we received it on 6/10.  Hope you don’t have to wait too long.

Just curious why people are continuing to wait rather than file a chargeback?  I feel like I waited too long to dispute and I filed awhile ago.

For me the issue is that my TA is my CC company, and I booked primarily with points.  So don't know how effective that will be.

I'm on the phone now with my TA.  Haven't called in about a month and I am curious what MSC's most recent lies are going to be.

So story today from MSC is I should get my refund in 10 day.  Of course, that was the lie I was told on April 20th, as I pointed out to my TA.  I will give it 2 weeks and call back to see what BS MSC comes up with next, although they are recycling their lies so I picture the customer service people just throwing a dart at a board filled with responses and telling customers whatever they randomly hit....If Vegas was taking bets, I think that the next lie I will be told is....we just began processing your refund since your cruise date is over....

As frustrated as we all are about the whole refund situation, I actually feel kind of sorry for the cruise line phone agents. What else could they have said when there is nothing they can offer to solve the refund delay or the authority to do anything.

Finally got refund yesterday. Was for April 11th sailing.

I called Tuesday and was told refund was completed last Friday and to allow 3-5 days for it to hit bank. First time what they said actually happened.

Good luck all - now I’m focused on refunds from Princess who are 100 times worse than MSC and that’s not exaggerating unfortunately.

I received notice this morning that my dispute has been resolved and the credit is now permanent. Finally! It took about six weeks for MSC to respond once I disputed the charges.

They actually responded?!  We are at the 5.5 week mark from filing our dispute.  I was just under the impression that we would have to wait the entire 8 weeks for no response.  A concern on my end is that we may eventually end up double refunded and the PITA it will be to resolve that.  Presumably if they are responding to disputes then they should be aware of the refund and not double refund.

I can only assume that MSC responded as the case would not have been closed. I was told that MSC had two complete billing cycles and it was about three weeks shy of that.
