Great !!
last year when sailed from amsterdam with the Rotterdam and passed by the Statendam which was right in front of us, both ships hung that horn for about 5 minutes !!

Usually when the Rotterdam sails from Rotterdam she blows her horn everytime she passes a town on her way to sea, a nice tradition !

Was sure awesome to hear our ship flexing her lungs. Since my mom is having a harder time doing steps I brought my laptop down so she could also see this. Was so hard to see her with no one out on deck.

Captain Jeroen says hello to everyone here on CC. He's heading back to the Grand Bahama anchorage

Did you talk to him when he was in town?   I think I had one time--my first time--on the NOORDAM.

Aw, rats, I missed them  ! ! ! !  I've been busy sewing masks for immuno-compromised people, and got carried away.

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

But, what you are doing is a very worthwhile task!

For those interested, Veendam is scheduled/not yet confirmed for 9:00 PM EST/6:00 PM PST; I would think no toeters at that time of the night

At 9pm, I think it might be possible.

A few weeks ago, Caribbean Princess sailed out around 10, and there were a few toots ... along with the noise from the condo audience.   🤗

At 10:00 PM, eh? Troopers!

Big time!

And it's probably a rare occasion as well. Every ship sails at 3 or 4 right now.

BTW, if you (and everyone else here that loves toots) want another fix, check out the post on the Princess board titled Sky and Caribbean have a horn battle.

I would think most of those condo dwellers would crave some sense of normalcy. I know I do. I bet they would welcome the toots. Hope Veendam delivers.
