Tracey.kinney425 Posted March 30, 2020 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2020 My 1st cruise got cancelled and my same itinerary isn't available except for when I can't go. We are 2 women in our 40s, (best friends), no kids going. What ship would you recommend for us? Im leaning towards something newer because I think it will have more to do/options. JaxsMama Posted March 31, 2020 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2020 I personally love Conquest class ships. They aren't super packed so finding seats at the comedy shows and piano bar is easy. They also have a sports bar which I liked. I also love the huge red frog pub on the Valor. The Alchemy is near the piano bar so it's not as packed as when its located in the ocean plaza. They also have a few extra lounges so they can have karaoke going on at the same time as comedy etc. One draw back tho is those ships do not have a Cucina or Jiji's etc, just bbq, seafood shack, sushi and steakhouse.
jperry2011 Posted March 31, 2020 #3 Share Posted March 31, 2020 Spirit class ships (Pride, legend, spirit) are older but very nice if you want to socialize or just spend the time relaxing. The only difference I have seen between then and the newer ships are more activites for kids on the top decks and a few different restaurants. I've been on the pride 4 times now I'm only 26 but not a huge party person and always had a great time.
Organized Chaos Posted March 31, 2020 #4 Share Posted March 31, 2020 Deja Vu. They were created 8 minutes apart?? 🤔
Joebucks Posted March 31, 2020 #5 Share Posted March 31, 2020 It depends what interests you. Based off of what you gave us, it sounds like you want more to do. In general, the bigger the ship, the more options of things to do. Personally, I love the newer ships. Some people will prefer more open spaces and certain features. Midwestgal Posted April 1, 2020 #6 Share Posted April 1, 2020 (edited) Royal Caribbean Oasis class ( doesn’t get much better) or Carnival Breeze. The thing is it’s your 1st cruise so you won’t know what to really expect. Edited April 1, 2020 by Midwestgal

If you’re looking for something to do... avoid the Fantasy class.

Just speaking from a ship perspective, RCI ships are definitely impressive compared to Carnival ships. Oasis and Quantum class ships are mind blowing, at least in my opinion. fla gang Posted April 1, 2020 #10 Share Posted April 1, 2020 I too love the big Oasis class ships of Royal Caribbean. Years ago I only used Carnival, and I like their newer ships, and I think Carnivals casinos have paid back a little better. Went on Carnival Pride when it was new and loved it. Have also been on several Disney cruises and the food and service were by far the best of any cruise lines I have been on, but Disney has no casino and Disney is, well Disney and they are much more expensive. Never had a problem with kids running everywhere on Disney like everyone says. Only by the pools! It may be quite some time before any of the Caribbean ports are opened back up for cruise ships because of corona.

We were on the Dream last July in a cove balcony. Room 2375 IIRC. Loved it! But......on the 2nd night, I was woken up at around 1:45 am. It sounded like a bowling ball was rolling around the floor above us. I believe it was the steel rollers on a pallet jack moving pallets of food around. It lasted for about 20-30 minutes. And it happened 4 out of the 5 nights. It was enough to keep me awake, so I went out on the balcony to enjoy the view. It never woke my wife up, but I'm a very light sleeper. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat!
skiorcruise Posted April 4, 2020 #13 Share Posted April 4, 2020 Look at the ship's stats: Take the ships tonage (tons of water displaced), divide by the number of pax, to get a number of pax per ton. This gives you an idea of how much room each passenger has on board. By this measure, the Spirit class had the most room in the Carnival fleet.
