Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Here in Ohio  our neighboring county has the most reported deaths for the state.

And we were one of the first states to start the social distancing around March 15th.

Our governor now has issued a new policy that all grocery stores are to have one way traffic in all aisles as well as limit the number of patrons in the store to minimal and have a plan in place by Sunday.

Many food stores are having you place your order online and pay with a credit card 4 days in advance.

The store emails you what time to come and what space to park in, you lift up your trunk and they place order in car. This is occurring in about 20% of grocery stores.

This is in addition too:

Some supplies being non-existent.

Of course we just got Toilet paper back to the state, and paper towels, but limit one per transaction.

Eggs are low in supply

Depending what day of the week determines the type of bread available. And again the food store you go to.

White bread available daily, rye, wheat, wraps buns vary which day.

Some days tons of red meat, others none.

Somedays tons of chicken, others none.

Sea food abundant supplies.

No tylenol in stores for a few days, just got a bottle at CVS.

Not supposed to take Ibuprofen at this time.

We have a bakery in Warren Ohio, that was open during the great depression and  it makes sure all get the bread they need.  Kudos to this company.  Many cannot travel here though.  And their price has not gone up.

The lines at the food bank were over 1/2 mile long in cars due to unemployment.

Also To home quarantine, only go out for food, medicine gas and work....police are monitoring traffic and giving citations.

No hospital or nursing home visits.

Weddings and Funerals are also included in the restrictions

Wedding venues closed, brides and grooms have to rebook, Funerals only immediate family.......will have celebrations of life at later date.

No gatherings in a house except for the people in the house, and yes the news had a story they cited a man for a quarantine party in Youngstown Ohio.

Turn in any and all PPE to your nearest hospital (that is if you have extra boxes).

Oh gas is $1.01 a gallon, with no where to go.

Whewwwwww

Thats enough

Stay healthy.

The grocery store, open your trunk idea is a great one!!  We need more government information literally replaying video examples on tv over and over again on how to do this right.  Some people just dont get it, dont care or dont understand, if they are  shown what to do they might do it.  Got to break it down simple.

No you are NOT awful for not letting him visit or stay with you.    It is critically important that those with serious health conditions follow protocols even more stringently than the rest.  That said, I am guessing after having a 9-bypass surgery, he is probably about fed up with staying home to rest.
I would definitely encourage some distance interaction.  Let your BIL know he is NOT alone- except for physically.

Thanks for your comments. BIL bypass was a couple of years ago, so his rehab is over. He is on heart meds though.

Update: He did come over yesterday to enjoy the beautiful day outside here at the lake, which he was invited to do that. DH got annoyed when he continue to stay past sunset, came inside, and watched TV with us until after 9:00pm. That was definitely NOT THE PLAN! We know he is lonely by himself but it was irresponsible of him not to take CDC guidelines seriously. Not sure what DH will say to him if he comes back to visit. DH said that we shouldn't have invited him over in the first place and that he really didn't want him to come. Blaming me once again! Oh well, it's done and over now. Maybe if he comes back, I'll just jump in our car and make myself scarce and let DH deal with it! LOL!

That is not good that your BIL took advantage of you like that later.  Sorry about his situation...but shame on him for putting you through that...knowing he was tugging on your heart strings to get what he wanted.  😞

I have the opposite situation.  My sister wants us to come down to visit on an overnight south of us in Vero Beach over Easter.  I don't think it's a good idea, now that we have this stay at home order (which I think began today in Florida) I really don't want to go...though I miss my sister and it will break her heart to have me refuse.

I know Bucky wants to go, she lives near a private beach and he really wants to do some beach walking.  Plus she just bought a "fixer upper" that she should never have bought and he will want to help her with her massive projects she is suddenly having to take on.  The real kicker?  She is an doctor, infectious disease specialist.  Yeah...she is one of the biggest of first responders...but...also gets exposed of course.

Wow and an MD too! Sorry for you too! Maybe you could spend all of the time with her at a safe (what's safe) distance outside on the beach, and make DH promise not to let his "handy man" self appear! Good luck!

Staying overnight in her house...not a great safe distance.  😞

How do I say no to her...this will be tough.

Hope she understands. My DH needs to set his bro straight as well! Hope we both have good luck!

Well I'm still working. Work for an HVAC company. We're considered "essential." Most of our guys are laid off.

My hours have been cut, boss works mornings and I work afternoons so I'm able to play golf with my friends 1-2 mornings per week and we walk. Our course is open and we all abide by the social distancing. No one touches the flag. No ball washers on the course, can't sit on the benches, etc.  I looked around the course today & was glad to see (all that I saw) were keeping their distance from one another.  The other mornings, if weather permits, DH and I have actually been taking a walk through the park across the street from us.  We watch the birds more.  I think its helping to change some of our bad habits to good ones.

Of course there are still the fun habits with the girls like wine/beer at 11 am after golf (ok, not before work on the weekdays, but on the weekends).

+1 - only 1 person per cart at golf courses.

That is the rule at one club (the other is closed).  Exception is spouses can share a cart. Not allowed to touch or take flag out and cups are upside down so the ball does not drop.   No divot sand, no water on course (bring your own), no towels on carts.  And no tees or ball markers out.  Really pretty safe.  Go right to first tee, stay away from playing partners and everyone has to retrieve their own balls.

I think all our clubs are closed. Sucks. But I think they should fill the holes mostly with sand so the ball can drop a little. Upside down with the ball rolling over does not seem right.

The cup is upside down, but down about an inch - so the ball will still drop about an inch, so you don’t have to reach into the cup to get it.  Local rule - ball hitting cup and bouncing out is deemed to have been holed

I am a 68 year old teacher.  It is the last quarter of my last full time job with a class ( next year I will run the library but half days). So for the last 3 weeks I have been doing report cards, getting materials to students, and learning how teach remotely.  Luckily I teach 3 grade and I only have 14 students.  I do get to see two of grandchildren because they go to my school. Every day they come home with me.  They have only been exposed to kids at school because my neighborhood and theirs doesn’t have kids their age.  My other grandchildren live in other states.  I am also making cloth masks for my neighbors.  I do the shopping because my husband has health issues.  I have been a couponer for 45 years so we always have extra food.  We have been ordering some things online.  I leave that to my husband.  I teach in a Catholic school so we are taking our normal Easter break from April 9th- April 20t.

Bet that doesn't happen often (ever?).  On my bucket list.

I played the Old Course on Christmas day. More people then, than the last few weeks. University is closed as well

Fun thread...I’m teaching from home now. I’ve maintained my normal morning routine of taking a shower, getting ready, and having breakfast before work. The difference is I get to wear casual clothes. I then “go to work”. It’s great being able to make hot food for lunch. We’ve been trying to recreate our favorite restaurant meals at home and doing pretty well with it. I do try to stay away from my personal computer, though, because it reminds me of the glory days of researching our cruises! 😢 My in-laws pulled into our driveway to visit their furry grand-pup (and us). We chatted through the window. Better days to come, but for now, we are maintaining a pretty calm new norm. Wishing you all good health!

No golf courses open around here, and sadly not because of snow.  One that I frequent was going to use this method until they were mandated shut by the province. They also would have used methods others of you have described.

I was happy that it looked like the Oilers were actually going to make the playoffs this year. Being in the Stanley Cup Final with the Leafs. Be still my heart!
