We want to take a Galapagos cruise with Silversea andwould like to know what the day to day schedule is like before we book a balcony room or larger (not sure if we will be in the room enough).   Any feedback would be great.

thanks!

As a rule you will have two onshore excursions a day.  These are heavily regulated - you will be in small groups and guides are quick to steer anyone who wanders off back to the group.  The exact opposite of social distancing.  On one of my excursions/walks/hikes whatever, the guide insisted we all stand in the searing heat for 10 minutes while he described the life cycle of an insect no one could see.

I don't expect Silversea or anyone else to resume operations in the Galapagos until next year.

Agreed that there are usually at least two onshore or zodiac excursions every day, so the time spent sitting about during the day is limited.  I remember two half days where I was either on an early excursion, or did not do the additional kayaking where having a balcony would have been nice. However, the one reason I regretted not having a balcony was getting the swimming costumes dry.  Having brought rash vests (and they were welcome for the additional warmth in the cool waters of the Galapagos), they just did not dry fast enough in the suite/bathroom.

I found the guides very considerate about finding shade if they needed to talk to us about anything.  They were all very good, albeit with different specialisms and interests.
