Dear Valued Guests and Travel Partners,

On behalf of Norwegian Cruise Line, thank you very much for your loyalty and for making us your vacation of choice.

As a result of fleet redeployment, all sailings on Norwegian Sun from May 21, 2020 through October 18, 2020 have been canceled. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

Due to the cancelations, guests who were scheduled to sail between May 21, 2020 through August 12, 2020 will have the following options:

' All guests will receive a refund in the form of a future cruise credit worth 125% of the fare paid, which will be valid for a period of one year and can be applied to any future published sailing through December 31, 2022. All future cruise credits will be available April 20, 2020. Additionally, guests who rebook their vacation by April 27, 2020 for any sailing beginning October 1, 2020 will receive a 20% discount off the voyage fare.

' For guests who do not wish to avail themselves of the 125% future cruise credit, a 100% refund of the fare paid will be reimbursed to the original form of payment within 90 days of completing the request form at https://www.ncl.com/case-submission/sun-alaska-form. The form will be made available beginning April 20, 2020 and must be submitted by April 27, 2020.

In conjunction with the cancelation of the Norwegian Sun voyages, we have significantly reduced our rates for Alaska cruises in July, August and September across the three vessels that will continue to sail Alaska - Norwegian Joy, Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Jewel. We urge you to review the pricing on those dates, as you will find extremely favorable fares.

If you have any questions, please contact us at (800) 327-7030, visit us at www.ncl.com or contact your travel professional.

As always, your business is important to Norwegian Cruise Line. We remain dedicated to providing our guests with the best travel experiences across the globe.

Sincerely,

Katty Byrd
Vice President, Guest Services

Looking at the two letters that were sent out.     The first one has the choice of 125% FCC.   Mine doesn't give me that choice.  😞

The second group of cruises looks to be outside the 120-day final payment cut off. A refund is to be expected in that case.

When you sailing?

Seems if in later time frame no 25%.

We were on the Sun on 8/13.  Already paid in full and excursions booked... one day too late for the 125% FCC, unfortunately.

Since we aren't given a choice (and must take the refund), it looks like we don't have to do anything to receive the refund... curious to see how quickly that will actually come... no mention of a 90 day wait that I can see, but I'm prepared for it all the same.

I'm not upset about the cancellation.  I really thought Alaska in August might work out (I guess NCL thinks so too, just not on this ship).  I'm only disappointed that there are no itineraries like this on any other ship, this year or next year (12 Day Great Glaciers).

Never been in this situation before, as I have only paid a deposit I assume the 125% is going to pretty valuless.

I had a FFC due to an issue on a previous cruise and also a cruise next credit, does anyone know in these just get credited back to my account with the original expiry dates?

What worries me is the FCC had 2 years to book a cruise and expired on 11th May 2020 so would only be valid for about 3 weeks if it has the same original expiry date.

this is our situation as well.  we have about $850 in FCC that we had one year to use.  it expires January, 2021.  i dont see how we can use it by tehn so we are going to push for an extension.  given we have an April, 2021 cruise booked that we could apply it to im hoping they do the right thing.

I looked at teh Bliss and Joy sails.  i am not seeing anything that appears significantly reduced in price.  and these itineraries are dull - this itinerary was longer and had new ports for us.  i am beyond disappointed.

My FCC only says it needs booking by the expiry date so I hope if yours is the same you should be OK.

In my case I hope they will give me a bit of an extension as it's going to be hard to make a new booking by 11th May, especially as they have not processed it's return yet.

It's unfortunate that they cancelled the better itineraries that the Sun had (11-day r/t Seattle). We cruised Alaska on a 7-day Glacier Bay itinerary on the Joy in September. I just priced out what it would cost for the same itinerary (on the Bliss this time) in September this year. The price is about the same. Not sure I would call that a significant price reduction.

I just checked my June cruise on the Jewel - it's more expensive than what my final payment was in February.  Definitely not a 'significant price reduction'.

Of course, maybe they're discounting July, August & September because they know the June cruises are going to cancel...

I certainly, never,  find any Alaska cruise dull.   🙂

Received version 2 of the email. I was on a casino at sea certificate through Rampart in Vegas.

When I got through to NCL, they told me I had 30 days to rebook (must sail before 12/31/21). Very nice result, considering original certificate needed to be booked by 1/17/20.

Unfortunately, the rep told me that Sun will NOT be sailing Alaska from Seattle in 2021, only Encore and Bliss. Booked the Sun because it has the I5 cabin (was taking nephew, his wife, and 8 yo). No similar cabin on other ships. I cannot use Pullman due to CPAP (saying nothing of old and fat).

Looks like a winter Caribbean replacement.

Good luck all.

why you lost 125% FCC

I didn’t lose anything. I have been booked (deposit only) on the Encore for April 2021 since December of 2019. I booked at $3895 for my family of four. Today that same trip is $6100. A 20% discount (I was August 13th on the Sun) is useless to me because even 20% off the cruise I have booked is $4800 so it’s useless. I am already booked on the CCL Panorama for next August and the Celebrity Apex for 2022. I didn’t lose anything nor need that fake 20% discount.  ..... My refund cancellation  was received weeks ago and I don’t have to fill out any forms and get behind thousands more cancellations now. Did you book La Cucina for June yet?

Nope, wrong again ....I am in the best position possible. See below, do you see 125% FCC.....but keep trying and play all the games you want with yourself.

Exactly as those dates are not past final payment. My Panama cruise for 10/18 was cancelled. Booked the Sun for 11/01 going to So Caribbean, not something I would book if there were many to choose from. It's 11 days so get my sea days, the ABC islands are some of the nicer ones, plus live in Savannah a 4 hour drive to port so no air to book or worry about.

Would have loved Alaska but I booked Panama as I don't have much hope for a cruising season to Alaska in 2020. Wouldn't even dream of Europe in 2020

We received the email about the Sun cruises in Alaska being canceled but couldn't figure out how to re-book and get the 20% discount. So I gave them a ring and now I'm quite disappointed. Since we had not paid in full (had until may 7th), we will only be getting an additional 20% credit on the deposit we paid. Basically we get a $120 future cruise credit.

THAT IS NOT WHAT THE EMAIL SAID. The lady on the phone even admitted that.

Wow, that doesn't make any sense at all. You should call again and talk to someone else. This is so new to all of the customer service folks that it may take a while before they are all trained. Let us know if you call again.

The Sun is showing Alaska cruises in 2021 from April to October.  We booked a 9 day Alaska cruise this morning to replace the one that was cancelled.

The rep you talked to doesn't know how the cancellations work.  I talked to my PCC this morning and booked a similar cruise in 2021.  She explained that the 20% discount cannot be applied to the new booking until the 2020 cruise is cancelled by NCL's system.  The deposit will be refunded to my original form of payment around April 20.  Then she will go into the new booking and apply the 20%.  New fare price on the 2021 cruise is $1,200 pp less than the cancelled cruise in the same cabin.

If you post your email, I'll send you my PCC's info.
