Thanks for the update, John.  I hope to be here for sail-away, as long as I remember the 2 hour time difference!

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Web cam showing Pilot#5 waiting for Regal Princess

or is that USCG? with flashing lights?

Pilot boats do not have any flashing lights in OPE. Either USCG or BSO

Thanks for the "sorta sailaway" notice, times being what they are.  Seems like a lot of fuel will be used to send these ships long distances, but I'm sure those in command must have considered the cost of chartered aircraft, etc., vs. using the ships.

At this time, do you see the ships being docked somewhere in a longer term lay. up?

Do you suppose they picked the ships because of the number of passengers they could accommodate - now to be used for crew?

Looks like Celebrity Silhouette may be coming in to PE, travelling at 20 knots with PEV as destination.

As of the present time, the various cruise ships are in "hot (or warm) layup" at several anchorages. Hot and warm layup means a mostly full set of crew and a ship that could return to service almost immediately. Carnival Corporation, incl. the Holland America group, is now moving a number of ships to "prolonged layup" status which generally means reduced crewing and limited technical operations, also meaning the ship could take weeks to be ready to return to service. Carnival has already come out with plans that see certain ships not return to full operation until October and November of this year

Don't believe so, since the HAL "ferry" ships range from a "S"-class ship (Veendam), to a "R"-class (Volendam) to a Signature-class (Nieuw Amsterdam) with various different accomodation totals

Volendam and Veendam seem to be doing mostly the same thing.  I wonder if their departures will be staggered a bit based on crew contract end dates.

Good.  I want to watch today.  With the prospect of the ships going into a longer term lay up,  These sailaways, sad as they are, won't be happening.

One of the smaller Maersk container ships, I think.  One time we saw the Emma Maersk in Naples - I think she is the largest.

And now we can see the NA
