Rare hcat Posted June 27, 2020 #104 Share Posted June 27, 2020 Is that a good sign for those of us hoping to sail on Connie in 2021 from Tampa? Or just another stop on her " tour"?

Rare The-Inside-Cabin Posted July 7, 2020 #107 Share Posted July 7, 2020 I live south of San Diego in Imperial Beach and have been watching the cruise ships wait at anchor till things get going again, Here is a photo of the Eclipse at sunset a few days ago. Can't wait for these ships to get started cruising again!
Rare WNcruiser Posted July 7, 2020 #108 Share Posted July 7, 2020 How about they tender us out there and let us use it as a hotel for a few nights! That will tide me over for a little bit 🙂

I hope that would be ok 😉

I don't think that even Celebrity has the answer at this point. All the refits are on hold for the time being.

Many of the crew do live on and around these Greek islands and the ships still need to turnover crew even with out passengers on board. Last week Edge recieved a number of new crew in Miame

That's a very out of a way place for a crew change - Piraeus would make much more sense.

You may have been sorta right - she seems to be meeting up with Pullmantur Monarch, before the latter is supposed to go to a ship graveyard. There are several ships going to be in Aliaga, so expect the Infinity to be on and off in that area for awhile. The Infinity is likely the designated ship to pick up the remaining skeleton crew including the ship officers for the ships that will be broken up as a result of the pandemic. Rare groryjm Posted July 13, 2020 #119 Share Posted July 13, 2020 All change Connie is now headed the oposite dirrection to the island of Spetses. She seemed to briefly redevous with Pullmantur Monarch a few hours ago then turned around
Cruising89143 Posted July 13, 2020 #120 Share Posted July 13, 2020 Infinity met the Monarch today. She was picking up the remaining crew on the Monarch which is expected to arrive at the breakers today. https://www.cruiseharbournews.com/monarchaliaga.html?fbclid=IwAR1CQW_szjWwoi70pybCqg2yuHCoE_OfHSRbeSA88FSTzqFBeKdc7CeaLoA
Biker19 Posted July 20, 2020 #121 Share Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) Connie is on the way to an area off Aliaga to meet up with Sovereign, I assume a repeat of the Monarch/Infinity rendezvous of last week. The highest tide in the area (the timing likely when Monarch and Sovereign will be driven onto the beach at Aliaga) is Wed. EnthDegree Posted July 20, 2020 Author #122 Share Posted July 20, 2020 Here is a link to a video from 2012 of a cruise ship arriving at the Aliaga breakers yard. A very sad sight indeed! Perhaps the coming months will see a flurry of such decommissionings. Click here to view
Roger88 Posted July 20, 2020 #123 Share Posted July 20, 2020 There was a thread not that long ago with a sattelite images of these cruisers just being gathered in the middle of the ocean. I gues most of them are still in the ocean. I wonder how many of them have returned back to ports.. but I am sure that not many. Usually it takes awhile to book the place and bring the ship there
Rare groryjm Posted July 20, 2020 #124 Share Posted July 20, 2020 There are currently two Carnival ships crossing the atlantic with Port of İzmir as thier destination, the Fantasy (1990) and the Inspiration (1996). I imagine they are both heading to Aliağa as well.
colliercruiser Posted July 30, 2020 #125 Share Posted July 30, 2020 Looks like the Celebrity ships moored near the Bahamas are moving out of the way of tropical storm ISAIAS.
