packedandready Posted April 20, 2020 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2020 This area has been on my bucket list a long time. For those that have cruised this..what was your opinion? Best month? Doesn't look like RCI is offering the Norwegian Fjords in 2021. Is it gone from RCI for good?
MADflyer Posted April 20, 2020 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2020 You have Jewel out of Amsterdam and Anthem out of Southampton in 2021. June, July and August would be recommended. Great cruise destination.

Celebrity (sister line) has Norwegian Fjords, though for some reason on their website it was listed under Russian cruises
lovelife Posted April 20, 2020 #4 Share Posted April 20, 2020 Absolutely stunning. We found the weather pleasant when we sailed in June last year.

From Southampton to Bergen, Geiranger, Molde, Olden, Alesund, and Stavanger. Each port was incredible and this sailing is among our favorites. TravelerThom Posted April 21, 2020 #7 Share Posted April 21, 2020 Even though I am D+ on RCI (and separately Elite + on Celebrity) I chose to take the 12 day Hurtigruten Cruise round trip up and back down the coast out of Bergen. Hurtigruten has been doing this trip since 1893 (yep, they started delivering mail to coastal towns with no roads in 1893). Comfortable but not fancy; no casino just fantastic scenery and stops at dozens of small towns. I did it the end of May and had 5 days with no sunset and a little bit of all 4 seasons. Immensely satisfied. If your interest is in really seeing the Norwegian fjords I highly recommend this trip
Booking It Posted April 21, 2020 #8 Share Posted April 21, 2020 Absolutely loved it! We went in July. The temperature was heavenly for me, maybe a bit cold for others (upper 50s, lower 60s during the day). The cost of a balcony cabin on our sailing was significantly more expensive than an inside or a window due to the scenic itinerary, but it was worth every penny to sit on our quiet balcony as the ship slowly sailed through the fjords, as well as seeing the beautiful countryside. Check the direction of the route, and book a cabin on the side of the ship that will allow you to see the most land. Ours was the starboard side. We went kayaking in the area of the Seven Sisters waterfall (see the picture in one of the posts above). The water was as still as a bathtub, which made it very hard to paddle! It was incredible to be surrounded by such beauty and calmness. If you have the chance to book it, do it! Times like these show us that you never know what the future holds.
