kenny Posted April 24, 2020 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2020 I read that cruise lines are considering banning smoking in casinos. Question: Would you gamble more if casinos didn't stink? LOL

Villcruise Posted April 24, 2020 #3 Share Posted April 24, 2020 It's not that I would gamble more. It would give me more options as to cruise lines and ships. Currently we have cruised Celebrity exclusively because they do not allow smoking in their casinos 5
IcanSeaclearlynow Posted April 24, 2020 #4 Share Posted April 24, 2020 I would definitely gamble onboard if they were smoke free. I'm hoping they do this on all cruise lines. We've only sailed carnival (1st booking for RC in Oct.) but the smoke was so bad on Horizon last year my husband wouldn't go in it & he normally gambles at sea. All of our casinos here are now smoke free & it's great. Well at least to us nonsmokers.
The Sunset Glow Posted April 24, 2020 #5 Share Posted April 24, 2020 We would definitely spend way more time in the casinos if they were non-smoking.

Nothing I have seen except here has said that. nope less time, And to save someone some typing. Royal has a non smoking line in Celebrity. They did a few tests about smoking and found that a smok8ng casino makes them a lot more money. I have a friend that works in the casino that transferred from Celebrity, his reason was Money. They have incentives based on cash the casino makes and on celebrity they make a whole lot less. unless the government makes them stop smoking then I don’t see it happening, they are going to be trying to bring money in when they reopen and they know some of their larger players are smokers who would go elsewhere if it. think of it, you have a smoker that wants 1 smoke an hour: - they would have to give up their machine while gone. - they would be lose 20 minutes or so going and coming back. - how much money can you put through a machine in 20 minutes? If you cannot answer that then you are not really the gambler they want. The demographics between Royal and Celebrity are different and perhaps that's the difference in the performance of the casinos and not the smoking policy. Sure the smoker may leave the machine for 20 minutes but that may be more than offset by attracting more non-smokers to the casino.

Rare island lady Posted April 24, 2020 #11 Share Posted April 24, 2020 I like it that smokers can be in the casino...though I wish they would close the entry doors to keep the smoke from billowing out into the Centrum/Promenade. It keeps me from going in there to lose money. 😄
tOSUSteve Posted April 24, 2020 #12 Share Posted April 24, 2020 While I don't believe this will happen, I would likely spend more time in the casino if it were smoke-free. 1
ATC cruiser Posted April 24, 2020 #13 Share Posted April 24, 2020 I saw this story this morning, maybe they’ll start making everyone smoke or at least wear a patch. It’s better than injecting disinfects http://www.rfi.fr/en/science-and-technology/20200423-french-researchers-suggest-nicotine-could-protect-against-covid-19

Currently we have cruised Celebrity exclusively because they do not allow smoking in their casinos I have come to do the same. Celebrity has been my choice for the past few years. The smoke in Casinos is typically not just in the Casino given they are often open to other areas and smoke has a mind of its own where it flows. Have loved no smoking anywhere inside the ship. When I consider other cruise lines I always have this in mind and do a lot of research, I know NCL has started creating enclosed smoking allowed areas in the Casino but the smoke would still waft out but perhaps not be so bad. I sailed on NCL Epic and the smoke was terrible in many areas near that casino and it even floated to other floors due to the open area in the center of the ship. Terrible! All that said, I don't see why this would be considered in relation to COVID? Smoking is already a health hazard so what is different now? trey420 Posted April 25, 2020 #21 Share Posted April 25, 2020 I wouldn't gamble more. I never did really get into it. Most I can say is I would visit, maybe drop a 20. I went to vegas last year for a week only gambled 5 bucks. Rather spend on shows and entertainment or food and travel around. So smoke on with your bad selves! 😉

I read about it here on CC so I'm sure it's 100% truthful. I tried the CC search but I guess I'm search challenged. Feels like it was a few years ago. Maybe some Grandeur fans can confirm. EDIT: Also remember seeing a video where Fain or Baley said it was not financially feasible. Can't find that either. I suck.
