Freedom going to Barbados!

Does anyone know why that is? I wouldn't think they're repatriating crew members, but maybe they are?

resupply the ship with fuel and provisions. if allowed, they can repatriate crew

The Freedom has been anchoring in the parking lot off of Galveston and sitting in the port since this all started. They left Galveston early this morning, so I don't think they needed to go to Barbados for supplies. They've been doing that in Galveston. 

 

I don't know why they would go to Barbados to repatriate either, unless they have a lot of Caribbean crew members that have expired contracts. Don't know. That's why I was asking.

Carnival is using some of their ships to transport crew back to, or near their countries. Perhaps they added Freedom.

I guess my question is more to why Barbados?

 

That's just one of many Caribbean islands. Is Barbados going to be the center of expatriating Caribbean crew members?

 

That article didn't mention the Caribbean, but did mention So. America which would be the closest.

Barbados does have an international airport so you may have it right. Perhaps a charter flight was less expensive from there, another thought.

London to Barbados is a common air route.  Many English cruisers fly to Bridgetown instead of Miami to board a ship, after all Barbados used to be a British colony.

I would guess that she's going there simply for a waiting period...warm lay-up if you will...until she's needed again.  Apparently, there is some financial advantage (I'm speculating) to taking anchorage there as Barbados seems to be a haven for 'waiting ships' right now.
