Quo Vadis? Posted April 29, 2020 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2020 Would this policy prevent you from cancelling your Celebrity cruises during these uncertain times? https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/22847-fred-olsen-cruise-lines-launches-new-plain-sailing-guarantee.html
39august Posted April 29, 2020 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2020 Yes, they would. I like the 28 day final pay period.
wrk2cruise Posted April 29, 2020 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2020 Interesting 5% bonus refund cash after 24 months if you decide not to sail. Way better than my bank.
jelayne Posted April 29, 2020 #4 Share Posted April 29, 2020 The 28 days for final payment would be great, at least until things settle down. There are too many unknowns right now to feel comfortable with 90 days, or more if booked with a TA. We have sailings for September with final payments coming due in about 6 weeks. These are outside of CWC, which covers sailing to 9/1 so it’s pay in June or cancel in June.
Fouremco Posted April 29, 2020 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2020 An impressive guarantee package.
Rare C-Dragons Posted April 29, 2020 #6 Share Posted April 29, 2020 Sure it sounds nice, but Fred Olsen Cruise line has 5 small ships, one of which is only for river cruising. Their new “guarantee policy” will probably work on a smaller scale as they have much lower overhead. Can't see it working for the much larger cruise lines. Marelaine Posted April 30, 2020 #8 Share Posted April 30, 2020 (edited) Yes, it would help a great deal. In fact, I'm heading to Fred Olsen cruise to take a look. Edited April 30, 2020 by Marelaine

I expect they will extend the CWC program. If I had to guess through the end of the year like airlines seem to be doing with waivers. They may do it in increments like they are doing with suspensions. They want to encourage people to make final payment and get that cash on the books.
