Canadalin Posted June 9, 2020 #501 Share Posted June 9, 2020 rgaudet While I am also happy to hear people are receiving their refunds I also don't understand why my early April cruise has not been refunded. Our TA told us a few weeks ago they were sending refunds according to cruise date so I find this confusing. I am also from Ontario, Canada and wonder if that has something to do with it. We are at over 90 days, and when we call Seabourn , they say it is being processed but can give us no date to receive it. Most others who cancelled on 3/9 for the March Encore cruise have gotten their refund. Makes no sense!

wyattsaunt Posted June 9, 2020 #506 Share Posted June 9, 2020 I’m wondering if those who are getting refunds, whose sailings were to be in May and June, while many with March and April sailings haven’t yet received theirs, might be due to complexity of the refund. I posted earlier today that, regardless of my cc dispute, SB appears to have refunded the final payment for our June 6 cruise, but we are still waiting for the $4150 deposit to be made permanent. My sister was to be on the same cruise and had paid separately. She had also filed a dispute for both the deposit and final payment on a Costco Citibank card, but today she checked with Citi and was told SB refunded both deposit and final payment prior to them completing the dispute process. Could it be that ours might have been refunded sooner than earlier sailings because there were no complicating factors that needed to be calculated, such as penalties, FCC’s, partial payments, etc? We were paid in full before SB cancelled, we asked for 100% refunded to original form of payment. Can it be that simple? (Probably not....). 🤨

Mauzac Posted June 10, 2020 #508 Share Posted June 10, 2020 Mine is really simple, 100% refund, two back to back cruises, SB air one way, it did have a future cruise deposit discount applied to both legs, but that's it. Very simple, I worked out what I am owed in 2 minutes. 🙂 88 days and counting...
rn123 Posted June 10, 2020 #509 Share Posted June 10, 2020 Nothing complicated for us either. Just straightforward refund of b2b starting 23rd May, no flights and requested on 14th April as soon as we were notified of cancellation. Nothing received yet. rgaudet Posted June 10, 2020 #510 Share Posted June 10, 2020 Mine is simple too. I paid for the cruise in one payment plus air. I have the two receipts. I will make my weekly call to seabourn tomorrow as I close in on 13 weeks.

wesport Posted June 10, 2020 #512 Share Posted June 10, 2020 Now this with Chase. I was thrilled to get my refund from Seabourn on my Chase Sapphire Reserve card. I called on Monday to get a check from the current credit balance. The rep said to watch the email for a link to get a direct deposit to my checking. Today after two days with no credit on my online account, I called, and they said it will probably process tonight, (many refunds and they are behind)and I would get no email for the direct deposit. Of coarse, each day the amount changes due to daily charges by myself and my partner. I now have to wait 7 to 10 days for the check. I guess I waited this long. JPH814 Posted June 10, 2020 Author #513 Share Posted June 10, 2020 Well I received my last refund today from Seabourn so I am "whole". While I certainly missed doing the cruise, we now have a pretty sizable chunk of money which I had not planned on having. Our budget for travel for 2021 is already put aside (which we may or may not end up spending), so I think we will be doing some significant upgrades around the house. Being house bound for a few months have given me some ideas. Although I do have a trip to Vegas in my mind when I decide it is safe and worth going. And we have had a number of updates for our spreadsheet so here it is. I resorted it with those still waiting at the top. Keep in mind, it could be some of those in the top just have not reported back that they received their refunds. Please keep sending your good news and I will continue to update and post. Swaxxy Posted June 10, 2020 #515 Share Posted June 10, 2020 (edited) I think Astride got both refunds. Astride posted this on page 20. Good news mates! A $41,510 refund from SB appeared on my Visa card this morning. The transaction was authorized on June 4th & applied to BTB cruises scheduled for April 29th & May 16th. I wish everybody good luck with their refunds & thank JPH814 for all the time & effort he invested in this roll call. wyattsaunt Posted June 10, 2020 #516 Share Posted June 10, 2020 As I wrote yesterday, I called Chase today and confirmed that both the deposit and final payment has been refunded by SB to our cc prior to the completion of the dispute we filed mid-May. Chase will end the dispute process and send the funds to us either as a electronic transfer or check within about a week. JPH814, please update the spreadsheet to reflect a full refund for me. FWIW, my sister, who does not post on Cruise Critic, also received the same full refund as I did on June 4, for the same June 6 cruise, for which we both requested option 2 on 4/15, after SB cancelled the cruise on 4/14. Here’s hoping everyone else gets their full refund ASAP!

Not sure what the rationale is. But I am pretty sure this is not one group of people sitting in one office building working on one assembly line. If there are multiple groups preparing the refunds, might some of them be in areas harder hit with the virus? Do certain people process certain ships? Do they process by voyage? (I think this might be true. It seems that when a group of refunds come at once, they are frequently from the same cruise date). Does it make a difference if the customer is in the US or elsewhere? Do people who used FCD's take longer than those who do not? Do people with a higher past guest status get processed sooner? I can see a lot of possible reasons. I wish Seabourn would have explained it a little bit to us, but I do not think that is happening. I'll print the revised spreadsheet tomorrow...I have a feeling we might get some more action tonight 1 hour ago, phillipahain said: Edited June 10, 2020 by JPH814

wyattsaunt Posted June 10, 2020 #522 Share Posted June 10, 2020 My sibling and I each got our refunds for 6/6 cruise this week but we are first timers with Seabourn and have zero elite status. We live in the Seattle area. We each filed disputes with two different credit card companies—Chase Explorer and Costco Citibank—but they were filed on different dates and the disputes were not yet completed, so I don’t think that was a factor, either. It does seem as if the refunds are being processed by different groups within the SB organization.

JSC77 Posted June 10, 2020 #525 Share Posted June 10, 2020 JPH814, if you would like to add it to the spreadsheet, I am in the US. And for those who have wondered how many refunds may be related to opening a credit card dispute, we did not initiate a dispute. I am puzzled by those who have had the FCD refunded as well. We used an FCD when we booked our June 27 cruise; when we canceled in late March, we were in the 15% penalty phase and a few days from getting to the 50% penalty. Seabourn didn't cancel the cruise completely until a few weeks later. We were told by both Seabourn and our TA that our FCD would go back to our Seabourn accounts, and that the 15% penalty would be applied to our accounts as well rather than being completely forfeited. That sounded ok at the time but now I wonder if we have the option to request a refund?? Has anybody been in a similar situation yet?
