HBE4 Posted May 14, 2020 #678 Share Posted May 14, 2020 (edited) To think, we almost made it to the end of the day without a mention of Chris Cuomo. Only had 3 1/2 hours to go. (EDT) Oh well, tomorrow starts another day. Try, try again..... 🙂 Edited May 14, 2020 by HBE4 2

But I can't do both so I "Liked" the post and here is the Ha-Ha 😄 Back in my young, stupid and foolish days, the seatbelt law went into effect in NYS shortly after I got my drivers license. I didn't wear one at the time. I didn't like they way it hindered my driving position, made me uncomfortable and dammit, I wasn't going to let The Man tell me what to do with me life. I need to Man-spread when piloting my 15 yo mammoth Ford Galaxie LTD (dads hand-me-down car). Hell. at 6'2, I could lay down across the front seat and my feet still wouldn't' touch the door. It was Oasis-big! A helicopter could land on the hood. I'm indestructible in that thing. Sorry, got sidetracked. Anyway, after almost getting ticketed a few times at roadblocks, I started to wearing it. Two weeks later, I rammed a telephone pole (not on purpose). Probably saved my life. So here I am today. Now I even make my back seat passengers wear a seat belt. So, I'll wear a mask. Inside a store, it's required. Outside, if I'm, getting close to people. I don't want to kill someones grandmother. That is called grasping at straws.... fortunately a straw man arguement, so that is all there is to grasp where CC is involved. jc

johnjen Posted May 14, 2020 #682 Share Posted May 14, 2020 (edited) I'm just waiting to hear from cruisers how this goes day by day, mask wise, once on board....whenever the next cruise happens that is. I am realizing it will, without a doubt, be a stressed out vacation from the boarding process throughout. There will be constant policing. Who wants to go on a cruise like that??? Especially when on a good day many are seen not washing their hands or sanitizing. From news stories there seems to be a fight a day, in areas reopened, in stores about mask wearing. Is the ship next? They might need to bring the boxing ring back to the ships, there was one RC ship that had it. The Casino can accept bets on who wins in this new UFC of the ocean battle royale. What is said today means nothing tomorrow and when it is expedient they will tell you the opposite and call you racist for questioning their honesty. Believing politicians and their appointed bureaucrats is just silly. 🙂 Living the dream here, just like you state. 🤦♂️ Could it be worse, you bet. Could we have done more in early February to have made things more normal today, 100% yes. All the signs were there of what was coming in late January, by what was happening in Italy. Meanwhile our nation had their heads in the sand ignoring CSIS reports, while the leader was traipsing across Europe. Had it not been for some railroad blockades he would have been in Barbados when COVID started to spike here. We are doing well compared to others. However I expected a lot better from our nation from the very beginning. Meanwhile we are throwing billions, if not trillions, of money around. I could go on about what could have been done and what should be done going forward but this isn’t the forum. I believe he posted the first link regarding the risks of breathing too much carbon dioxide and the second link about wearing a facemask for too long and suffering hypoxia.... lack of oxygen being breathed due to a buildup in carbon dioxide due to recirculated (oxygen deprived) air in the facemask. Rare 20165 Posted May 14, 2020 #688 Share Posted May 14, 2020 i dont think i saw the feasibility of toddlers wearing masks in this post. Not sure thats going to work. We have teenagers and its a challenge to get them to keep their masks on in the stores, i cant imagine what it would be like with say a 5 yo. i guess the response could be dont cruise if you have small children but that will really limit the customer base is you eliminate families as well as people over 70 without a Dr note. You're right, but this entire posting is just a discussion excercise. Cruising and social distancing don't mix, no pun intended. Nothing is organized or arranged to keep people apart. Much of the energy of a cruise is dependent on "the crowd". Even those that say "We make our own fun" can't deny the excitement and fun that comes from a packed showroom for Love and Marriage or the pool games during the afternoon. Most ships aren't really designed or have infrastructure to support distancing once in public spaces (outside of the cabin).

I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old. We got a cool Ninja Turtle mask for our 5 year old so he is good with it lol. The 2 year old, I assume she will just rip it off although we haven't been anywhere with her yet so who knows. The big problem with little kids is, they put their hands on everything and also their hands in their mouth. At least mine do, our last cruise in December I couldn't count the number of times I told my son to keep his hands out of his mouth / off his face. Where I live our numbers are also dropping but we are led to believe that it's due to the warmer weather (and social distancing of course). The VAST majority of all cases (and over 95% of deaths I believe) have been in seniors who are in long term care homes. They are still worried about possible second and third waves come fall and winter but if that doesn't happen I don't even want to speculate how rough it will be on our world leaders who have set us back decades financially speaking with these shutdowns.
